…the orange menace has just rescinded a rule making priests tattle on kiddie diddling priests…
this is the admin of rape and sexual assault.
Being Conservative and being Christian aren’t compatible ideologies. You can follow the teachings of Jesus or be conservative, you can’t do both.
Funnily enough, an enormous amount of Americans somehow did the mental gymnastics tomdo both anyway
You just start saying that Jesus was this blonde guy with an Arnold Schwarzenegger type body, who loved CEO’s and shit like that.
That in turn also goes to show how dumb religions are
This assumes that Christian means “follow the teachings of Jesus Christ”. Unfortunately Christianity has never meant that. Even less in the US since Billy Graham.
I have no idea what you’re talking about, it’s always meant that. Anyone who doesn’t follow the teachings of Jesus but calls themselves Christian is just lying.
I’m not sure they’re lying as long as they actually think they are christians but are just wrong about it in your eyes.
There are definitely millions of people who “follow” the teachings (they listen when somebody feeds them a tracking) even though they don’t implement them in real life.
Have you read on the history of evangelical Christians during the US civil war? Two different factions of Christians argued both sides, against and pro slavery. Both cited Jesus and the bible, often.
Christianity is anything you want it to be. Proof is on the fact that there are like 45 thousand different Christian denominations, and they all have a different interpretation of Jesus, some diametrically opposite each other. Even the apostols argued with each other about how to interpret Jesus on certain topics. That’s the problem of trying to rule your life under the words and teachings of one single person who may or may not have existed.
Every. Single. Time.
Well, they really are constantly thinking of the children…
It’s always the people you most suspect.
What is it with Christians and pedophilia?
As someone who grew up in a fundamentalist Christian household, and have been around a lot of “Christians,” i think many of them become so fiercely religious because they think it will help them overcome “sinful” tendencies. For example, my father liked to drink and fight in his twenties. Around the time I was born he became fiercely religious. I’ve always assumed that was because he wanted to clean up his life to be a better dad. He stopped drinking but he found plenty of people to fight in his own house …
You trying to say that you think this isn’t happening in, say, Muslim circles?
Cuz I have a really good bridge here that I’d like to sell and I’d just like to be sure you’re interested.
All religions are abusive, and it’s not only sexually.
Whatabout Muslims?
Oh my God, somebody gave an example! Quick, let’s call it a whataboutism!
My point is that ALL religions are used as an excuse for any abuse and torture and warfare and the most sadistic acts possible.
ALL religions are evil.
How is that for whatabout?
If you don’t want to be called out for using whataboutisms then don’t use whataboutisms. Don’t piss and moan because you were called out, it’s pathetic.
I’m missing the part where you understand it’s not a whataboutism as I just said, because they are ALL evil. Whataboutism doesn’t work when referring to ALL options
Stop whinging.
I said something, you said whatabout something else. That’s the literal definition of whataboutism.
Being called our and whinging then doubling down and whinging more is pathetic.
Okay, I’ll be the one trying to be reasonable.
My single point is that this happens in all religions, not just Christianity. This is not to defend Christianity, this is to say it’s everywhere. If extending that little circle you made to be bigger is whataboutism in your mind then please stay out of any discussions in real life because nobody will be able to say anything without you going “whataboutism!!!”
This is not “what about Muslims”, Muslims were taken as an example, i might just as well have gone for hindi or any religion
The only religions I’ve found that don’t suck are mock religions like FSM and the satanists.
Whataboutisms are also used to distract from the point, distract from the target, to protect the target. I’m not trying to distract you from the target; fuck Christianity, all of it. I’m literally just saying that it’s much bigger than the specific group you setup.
If you still don’t get that, then I don’t know what to tell ya, buddy.
Also, if you feel bthe other side is whining then maybe you should stop responding as your response is then just whining back
Not necessarily all, there are plenty of what I would call folks religions that are more or less the eclectic tales and legends of a family or village that aren’t abusive. The abuse only really gets to be a problem once you start getting organization of a greater degree than that one uncle who knows your kins oral history like the back of their hand.
There is always abuse
Be it physical, sexual, psychological, or just by the way of control (because that too is what all religions are about), there is always abuse
What I’m talking about is a folk belief system that overlaps with theology, wherein the difference between culture, tradition, and what we call religion are so intermixed and overlapped that they are effectively inseperable.
The situation I am talking about is one wherein there is no religious control because there is no structure to control it with, wherein theological debate is not between priests but between kinsmen who are at worst separated by eldership. In such a situation the abuse is an outcropping of culture not religion, or at least is about as secular as you can get with such folk beliefs present.
Sorry I recently read an article going over pre Christian anamistic beliefs in Europe and it melted my brain. There is no religion just culture and traditions in such society.
Not a drag queen (probably), not a trans person…
It’s always the ones you most expect.
No drag queens here.
Hey look, another not a drag queen.
Love thy neighbor, no matter the age.
Is there a slur for christians? There really needs to be one
Pedo

I say they’re both wrong >:-(
I’ve looked at porn before and I have uh, wandered across some crazy stuff where I’m like okay, I did not want to see this… I always wonder if these folks are being accused of finding that stuff, but if they are saving it on their computer it seems weird… I don’t really save porn on my computer anyways… unless I find something super classy or sexy maybe, but even then most likely not, and if it’s that classy it’s probably not even technically ‘porn’…… anyways, Just thinking out loud I guess….quietly
Part of me wishes there was a legitimate way to report questionable porn that didn’t involve morality police who think all porn is inherently bad…… (edit: no part of me wants that job lol, just to be clear, oh god those poor workers who have to do that shit)
But also, why does it always seem to be these guys who are extremely vocal about being anti porn and super puritanical… Jesus h Christ… literally…
Makes me wonder about the current speaker of the house…

I know someone that works somewhere (involved with police enforcement) and there are people that have to review content for CP as part of their job. He said they are instructed to do things like turn the screen sideways, turn down the sound, and so on so that it’s not as scarring. I think after X hours of doing such work, they have to Y hours of counseling.
I told him there is no way in hell I have the the wiring where I could do such a job, though I’m thankful someone is able to do it. If I did have to do such a job, I’d probably have to have like 24 hours of counseling for 1 hour on the job…
I imagine the job for private companies is just as daunting, but my guess is that it has less oversight to protect the worker from psychological damage…
Honestly this is one of the few examples of what would be a good use case for AI.
So this guy faced 8 counts, with a maximum sentence of 10 years each. He pled guilty to 2 counts in exchange for getting the other six dropped. he’s gonna go for some psych evaluation, maybe spend some time in jail, maybe not. He left his cushy gig, but I’m sure in a few months he will go on a public speaking tour about how repentant he is, the board will talk about how God always gives second chances, and he’ll get back pretty much everything.
Meanwhile, there are immigrants who are being tossed out of the country by this administration for much more minor offenses committed 10 or 20 years ago (which they already paid the price for). They have been following all the rules since then, and now we decide we don’t want them here anymore, and they lose everything they built here.
I think our values are all out of whack here.
US morals have always been out of wack/hypocritical
US declaration of Independence: Freedom
US constitution: 3/5 clause implicitly allowed slavery
It did…. And it still does
Note the exception clause:
Section 1. Neither slavery nor involuntary servitude, except as a punishment for crime whereof the party shall have been duly convicted, shall exist within the United States, or any place subject to their jurisdiction. Section 2. Congress shall have power to enforce this article by appropriate legislation.[1]
