“It was reported that the decedent’s diet was potato chips and fries because of texture issues,”

Was this poor kid on the spectrum?

They only ever brought him to a doctor once in his short life. We may never know for sure, poor kid.

Seems quite likely the parents had mental health issues too. Not excusing their conduct, but if we spent more on local public health services and had pushed a therapeutic intervention at this household I feel like this definitely could have been prevented.

And still no parents have gone to jail for not getting AAP recommended vaccines that would’ve saved a life.

Murder seems a bit strong for this kind of thing though. The parents sound like idiots and not like they wanted their child to die.

      I did some digging…

More to it than the Guardian post. Way more.

Kid was non-verbal, parents were hoarders and the 5-year old sister was reported as “feral” by the first responders and was naked outside the house and literally covered in shit. She was also morbidly obese. From the way the girl acted there were doubts she’d ever been around anyone but her parents - so no kindergarden or school of any kind, and no doctors visits.

Go look at the photos of the parents - holy hell.

At the time of his death, Casper was said to measure 4ft, 2.5in tall (1.3 meters) and to weigh 255lbs – the latter of which is well above US averages and pediatric recommendations.

The situation is sad but what a dunk on Americans this line is.
