This announcement is de facto recognising a Palestinian state, they will have to wait until September to de jure recognise the state (thankyou CK2 for explaining that distinction.)

Palestinians don’t want a state on the ruins of Gaza or the ghettos that remain in the West Bank, we want a free Palestine from the river to the sea, for all regardless is religion.
Anything short of fully dismantling the occupation, reparations, and the right of return for all the refugees that want to return is just the current situation with extra steps.

The PA made commitments themselves. And they’re not exactly heavily militarized anyway.
