  • It seemed like odd wording for a Special Counsel to use with regards to the President. That doesn’t sound in the least professional and doesn’t seem to fit within the scope of the classified documents case he was investigating, it seemed almost designed to provoke this sort of argument about Biden’s mental fitness.

Regardless, I would vote for a wet paper bag over Trump, doesn’t matter, anyone or anything but Trump 2.0.

  • I use Discord with friends for a weekly online D&D game in what’s basically a glorified conference calls. It’s fine for that use-case, but it fucking sucks for trying to do anything organized or having on-topic conversations or looking up any sort of stored information. I kind of hate it when game companies have shit on there and you have to search/sort through hundreds of unconnected chat snippets to find answers to questions.

  • I just saw a paper on that. I think the basic idea is that the reason you remember better from handwritten notes versus typing is that each letterform has a unique shape that you have to write down. So your fingers/hands are following along by some sort of choreographed muscle memory when you’re writing stuff down, it’s like a sort of dance that our hands do, tracing out all these letter forms, there’s more uniqueness and complexity to it that somehow stays with us better. Compare that to typing where you’re literally just doing the same action over and over again, you’re just pushing buttons down. You might be able to focus more on what the professor is saying, but you’re more just passively taking it in and your mind isn’t as engaged in your note-taking.

  • In Hindu cosmology they have something called the Yuga cycles where the state of the universe seems to change over time and generally becomes more chaotic (one might say going from “solid” to “gaseous” over time) and I think time runs quicker as things generally spiral out of control. Each Yuga in the cycle is 1/4 shorter than the previous, so it works out to a 4:3:2:1 ratio. However, I’m not an expert and only first heard of it from Alan Watts and looked up the wikipedia article.

A Yuga Cycle (a.k.a. chatur yuga, maha yuga, etc.) is a cyclic age (epoch) in Hindu cosmology. Each cycle lasts for 4,320,000 years (12,000 divine years) and repeats four yugas (world ages): Krita (Satya) Yuga, Treta Yuga, Dvapara Yuga, and Kali Yuga.

As a Yuga Cycle progresses through the four yugas, each yuga’s length and humanity’s general moral and physical state within each yuga decrease by one-fourth. Kali Yuga, which lasts for 432,000 years, is believed to have started in 3102 BCE. Near the end of Kali Yuga, when virtues are at their worst, a cataclysm and a re-establishment of dharma occur to usher in the next cycle’s Krita (Satya) Yuga, prophesied to occur by Kalki.
