I swear, the people obsessed with enforcing one right way to do… everything.
It looks exhausting. I feel kind of bad for them and when they start rearranging other people’s work I always think of this sad lil raccoon for some reason:

Feel older, he’s 43 now.
Republican voters are so far into the sunk cost fallacy of their cult, they are more than willing set themselves on fire, so long as their ENEMIES burn with them.
To me, that’s the quintessential difference between the modern American centrist party (we don’t have a meaningful left with any power sadly) and right wing party: Most of us want Republicans to have access to healthcare they can afford, utilities that work, safe food and water, and education, we all know they fucking need that last one desperately.
Modern Republicans, on the other hand, would very much like if those that opposed them (or are even just minding their own business but don’t align with the rigid tenets of their cult) were dead, preferably very painfully while they watch.
Note all the obnoxious signs on many of their homes openly “jokingly haha” pining for the opportunity to shoot someone who gets too close to their properteh.
All we had to do to make Christianity decline was belabor how antithetical it was to the only value, mooaaaaaaar, of our sociopath capitalist owner class.
They control the means of mass propaganda, and the rest is history. Christianity was hurting their rebranding of the sin, character flaw, and personality deficit that is greed into the Orwellian virtue of “rational self-interest.”
I guess those fuckers are good for something other than exploiting humanity, even if only unintentionally.
“Society grows great when old men plant trees whose shade they know they shall never sit in. BURN THE TREES! I suffered so everyone else should forever!"
We haven’t learned how to care for one another or the very air we breathe, and have very little interest in doing so, so I’m sure mastering strip mining the death void despite not learning how to crawl or walk as a species will go spectacularly 👍
Remember, the answer is always mooooaaaaaar.
Reckless growth of an aspect(humans) of a larger but still finite organism(Earth’s ecosystem) that aspect is completely dependent on but indifferent to the damage its growth is doing, because it keeps doing it as it is its only imperative, is what metastatic cancer does.
I know our species worships the idea of infinite growth/metastasis with reckless abandon as fast as we can, but that recklessness has consequences.
Gotta love the true believers.
Too bad that IF we somehow don’t destroy our shared, sole, naturally hospitable habitat, and that’s an enormous if, all of this technology is privately owned, unlike the public space endeavors we starved to give the people profiting off this a tax breaks.
We’re creating a future where if we succeed in making any brave new human colonies, they will be exploitative resource extractors for private companies, not humanity, and people will be born into interstellar company stores they can never afford to escape.
I used to be all in on space, what changed is knowing who we have become and seeing the blatant lack of any noble values or aspirations to take with us. Our owner class is literally pushing for colonization because they need to grow/metastasize, and strip mining the paradise we inherited that they’ve already conquered and saturated to the point of ecological disaster is no longer enough.
It’s pretty obvious that if we can’t succeed in finding homeostasis on this, the only planet we will ever know that is completely suited to our biology, we will absolutely die on the vine attempting to set up a persistent presence anywhere else, all of which will be lethally unforgiving.
There’s no growing/metastasizing our way out of the many crises our reckless growth/metastasis has created.
“The economy is doing great! Profits have never been higher! Our super yachts have their own pet super yachts now, it’s adorable!”
-The economic class raping, pillaging, and destroying society and the planet for private profit out of nothing but greed and ego.
But hey, at least we never tried filthy socialism on our way into oblivion, amirite?
Only 28,000 people on Earth worth 100 million or more. Only 28,000 of the softest, most dependent on having others do everything for them fancy lads and lasses in existence. There are a lot of sports stadiums with greater capacity than that. There’s 8 billion of us. That’s 285 thousand ants for every grasshopper oppressing us.
Just saying.
And yes, under this global economy and what it incentivizes and punishes, great net worth is about as accurate an indicator as you can get for who the self-serving, sociopathic enemies of the species are. No reasonable, empathetic person would hoard that much in a world of suffering people. It’s what makes them who and what they are.
I hate biased, ivy league, self-serving economists pretending to be and having the gravitas of scientists when they declare this intentionally corrupt, thieving economy to be the optimal system for distributing goods and services to the society it is supposed to be in service to instead of the other way around as it has become.
Giving the rich people all the money isn’t efficient at distributing good and services in such a way as to maximize the well-being of the citizenry(isn’t that supposed to be the POINT of any economy?), its only efficient giving the rich people all the money.
Nah, senile grandad needs a phone too.
Simple, overpriced tech for simple people who don’t prioritize tech or value.
I hate Steve Jobs specifically, his proud lack of charity, his overt need for the credit of talented people despite being nothing more than a marketer, and notably letting his proven child live on welfare for years as he was worth at the time millions. Most pos market capitalist oligarchs join Jobs in rejecting charity (commensurate with their wealth) and community, but even most of them somehow manage to play human when it comes to paying for their own children to eat without complaint, which made Jobs a particularly awful human being, even among our sociopath owners, which takes a lot of talent in being awful.
Aka no regulation.
🤣😭🤣
What a clown show.
Market Capitalism exists to feed insatiable greed.
These aren’t specific bad actors, this is what it means to be a publically traded corporation.
We’re going to destroy the planet and civilization will collapse sooner rather than later, but if hypothetically we cared about our species/children/future, capital markets would have to either go, or capital investment would have to be the party receiving a small fraction of the value produced while the labor that generates that value gets most of it, as always should have been the case.
Capital markets, in theory, were supposed a way to seed businesses to grow, now they run the table, threaten legal action against corporations who don’t self-cannibalize for short term cash grabs, and at this terminal stage are eating one a other’s empires in their desperation to grow/metastasize on a saturated, capitalist conquered finite world.
Having currency isn’t the problem, having a do nothing investment class that provides no labor but expects ever Moooooooooaaaaar merely for presenting chips from their last trip to the human exploitation casino is destroying civilization and our sole, shared, COMMUNal habitat is.
Labor makes the world run, builds the goods, provides the services, makes the discoveries, grows our food, etc. Do nothing capital investors are societal leeches claiming all the value generated to keep their livestock desperate, in subsistence, and perpetually separated from the resources to buy their own means of production to form cooperatives and the like, as is the core function of market capitalism.

You made me angry with myself for agreeing with Steve Jobs.
It really is an ideological conflict between people who want humanity to be a civilization, and people that are content with us continuing to be monkeys throwing feces at one another in the dirt.
Civilizations have to aspire be more than they are, and not terms of individuals growing their dragon hoards of greed and glut.
Would be more true if they stabbed the hand, because after they suggest budgeting, that employee will be put on a list and be first in line to be terminated due to being incompatible with the work culture of pretending to be shiny and happy living in subsistence.
This made me laugh because the HR lady at my company made an email about such “resources” recently.
HR is corporate gestapo, anything you say can and will be used against you, but by all means share your inner demons with them.
They’re pre-rinsed and clean enough.
If it makes you happy though, awesome!
