Twink smoothie is a great nutrient source if you try to get a lean body.

So meme aside (because it’s funny) this actually has me thinking.

Why does corporate pride stuff get so much more scrutiny than virtually any other corporate marketing nonsense?

    • Veterans/Memorial Day: Come celebrate soldiers, both dead and alive, by buying a discounted truck or mattress for your bed!

    • Christmas: “IF YOU DON’T CELEBRATE CHRISTMAS WITH YOUR BRAND THEN YOU ARE DEAD TO US” - Christians across the US.

    • Thanksgiving: Let’s give thanks for this bountiful harvest by handing out low low prices and create a culture where people want to save money so badly they leave their families for a day and go trample each other - sometimes quite literally to death - to get a cheaper TV. (In our general defense this one at least gets some scrutiny).

But suddenly pride rolls around and we’re all cynical consumers who don’t want corporations leveraging cultural events/holidays to sell us shit? Sounds to me like once again social conservatives have couched the real issue (they hate pride month) in something that is easier to sell to people and we have all sort of gone along with it.

I can’t speak for everyone else, but I wrote about this exact thing recently (Rainbow Washing & False support of Pride by Corporations/Politicians for financial gain etc)

I absolutely scrutinise all the other forms of corporate ass-holery too. The only difference, that I feel anyhow, is it’s considerably easier to point out the stark contrast between certain corporate actions during pride month, and their actions outside of pride month. It’s a unique situation where we haven’t been experiencing this for so long that it’s simply business as usual.

For me, it’s not a question of hating pride and using this as a means to push through hateful rhetoric – It’s definitely just a case of tackling one thing at a time. Though I absolutely will concede that you’re more than likely correct in your assumption that social conservatives will attempt to hinder the pride movement by wrapping up their bullshit rhetoric and policy in social justice.

Appreciate it, just glad I could explain my view point.

I’m conscious of the rules in this community, so I won’t post it here but if you look in my profile you’ll see my work, thank you though, for enquiring – means a lot.

also consider that the people criticizing one thing or the other are not necessarily the same individuals.

Is it maybe more about ‘work for us’? Like celebrating Christmas isn’t usually an attempt to recruit Christians, but displaying pride colors signals that you want to be seen as a safe place for people to work?

But celebrating Christmas and making it a point not to do “happy holidays” is a culture war move too. It’s as performative as anything else.

What do they do after Pride Month that’s so bad? Yeh it’s just a corporate cash grab, and it’s funny how the Middle Eastern branches of these companies don’t change to a rainbow profile pic, but what do they do that’s so wrong?
