I read that loops.video has launched ActivityPub federation. I sometimes want to share a video (sometimes a portrait one from). Does the AP link with loops.video make the most sense, or should I just upload directly here?
I’m mostly conscious of what is the easiest interaction for viewers as well as server considerations for whoever is hosting.
Is it possible to mention the community when uploading the video?
Good question. I don’t think so, because Loops is more like Mastodon (user centered) rather than Lemmy (interest centered).
Dansup posted the details here https://blog.joinloops.org/loops-joins-the-fediverse/
I never understood how Lemmy <-> Mastodon integration works. But I know that people who follow me on Mastodon got posts on Mastodon by “me” that mirrored my posts on Lemmy.
If it’s closer to microblogging and you’d rather post there still, then maybe do so, and share the Loops link as a link post on the relevant community?
That’s a good idea. I see they have a web interface now too at loops.video so getting the URL is easy.
