Modern genetic engineering tools are probably afgordable for anyone with a garage. Fire breathing anything might be hard, but i bet there’s all sorts of cool weird monsters you could make!
I mean, one of the most occult things you can do is ritually pack bond with your soul mate and then generate life from nothing. Instilling your little homunculus with all the accumulated knowledge of it’s predecessors is pretty crazy, too.
