I suppose I’m still haunted by that one photo of him, I think on some golf day, where he looked like a demented elf. It was going around for a while but I had a hard time finding it last time I looked.

Something similar happened in Albuquerque recently with a doctor/medical executive. She has a salary of almost $300k a year. It’s unclear what makes people do this - entitlement? Greed? For thrills? I can say though from experience running a small independent retail art supply store, the people who stole from us the most were well-off women who were otherwise good customers. It seemed like they thought they were entitled to a “special discount”, like they resented that we consistently made money from them and didn’t offer special deals.

My mother cooks a wide range of stuff that is generally good. I don’t agree with some of the ingredients but the methods and results are solid.

My father used to cook a limited range of decent dishes but seems to have forgotten about that, and has become incredibly lazy about food… if it’s not something frozen he can microwave in 3 minutes, he considers that way too long and too much effort.
