How likely is that Google's layoffs and actions since then are at least partly because of this?13·2 years agoLol there’s a stub titled “investor activism” under which this letter falls under. Jesus fucking christ, when you’re a billionaire it’s not “activism” it’s just straight up human manipulation

It’s newspeak for wanting to be capitalist while ignoring human rights violations

There are so many challenges to fantasy writing but that shouldn’t be one of them.
Hope you can keep writing awesome characters and stories!

I’m saying you don’t have the right to tell other people how they want to see themselves or disabled characters in fantasy settings, if you’re gonna be rude about it.

pthaloblue@sh.itjust.worksto RPGMemes @ttrpg.network•Had this conversation with someone who chose to no longer be at my table after meeting a blind NPC4410·2 years agoHi. I have a mild physical disability, and this point comes up quite a lot in different settings, including fantasy fiction. “If such and such is a fantasy setting, why does character simply not be disabled?” Is something many able bodied people like to assume.
Without going into how hurtful it is to assume that what all of us want is to be “able bodied”, you’re basically taking away a person’s agency to tell a story about themselves as they are. And there are many stories to be told!
So instead of trying to use logic to negate these kinds of characters from stories and fantasy settings, I challenge you to expand your own definition of what’s possible. There’s plenty of room for all of us.
And in Comic Sans!
Pretty sure this was from the America book by Jon Stewart, yeah? That book was a trip.
Sigh. Look, if you’ve never been to a jeep consortium, that’s just how it goes. Hairy things flopping all over, kindof like a rave with more roll bars. I never want to see that much pubic hair again in my life.
