I think this has to do with the words per minute read back speed. I find that audiobooks from books with large font are read slower than the audiobook versions of books with smaller type. The last two audiobooks I’ve heard are The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh and Project Hail Mary. The former was read more slowly than the latter and had about 3 to 4 times bigger type.

I would have done shameful things for that dl speed in 1998.

    I don’t think I’ll do any airplane games but maybe with the right tools I would like them. I’ve seen posts about Elite Dangerous and people do seem to like it but I associate it with EVE online (I think, the big spaceship game with clans and wars) and my friends who liked EVE never seemed to be happy about playing it. I haven’t tried any kind of flight game since starfox 64 and am more into quick games I can play to procrastinate on important decisions.

Thank you for making the second point. It does suck that I am forever searchable on an arrest database but I’ll take that over the cops being able to disappear me as a matter of course, as opposed to having to do extra work to disappear me. I think the charitable explanation is that the US exports so much pop culture and also several of the main social media companies are US based that US Americans see “their culture” constantly reflected back to them causing a reflexive assumption that is often wrong. The less charitable explanation would be willful, myopic ignorance I guess.

I was looking more at those HOTAS. Do you use yours for flight sims or more for like aerial combat games? I’ve never had a gaming hobby stick around long enough to want/need better equipment but is it the fidelity to real yoke and throttle or the physical feedback or something else that makes that setup so desirable? I read through their product pages but its always hard to tell the difference between what is marketed and what is sold.
