If you just joined one and did stuff, I’d try it, but all the ones close to me demand payment, like it is some holiday retreat. It’s hard to find the real ones within all the hustler noise.

Gsus4@mander.xyzto Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•Does anyone here prefer instrumental music over *songs*?3·2 days agoThe issue for me is that musicated poetry has to be good poetry in first place. Generally, the voice even if good just interferes with the music unless it is a choir. Plus I’ve always had a hard time parsing lyrics by ear… I’d never considered cross-culture universality.

Now he is just a small millionaire and was spotted riding a bike.5·3 days agoFor that, first you need to solve a major problem posed by globalized capital to any government (also salary/regulatory arbitrage and bribes), which is, you need to get the stuff that they stashed away in a tax haven or even in a hostile country.

Make bankers boring and frugal again.

e.g. first step: end citizens united in the USA, more transparent lobbying in the EU.
Gsus4@mander.xyzOPto Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•When you go to karaoke, do you/your group usually sing seriously, with your heart, give it your best or do you sing as to make fun of the songs in a playful way?31·3 days agoI’ll add my own experience: in uni, we’d go in groups where half sung from their heart and the other half (I was in this one) was mostly sarcastic…I always wondered if it was because each subgroup was from a different culture (sincere singing: friends from asian country(ies), insencere: friends from european countries).

Gsus4@mander.xyzto Technology@lemmy.world•Marco Rubio orders US diplomats to launch lobbying blitz against Europe's tech lawEnglish8·5 days agoWhy is the EU always blamed for everything? This is how you got brexit. Trade policy and negotiations included all of the inputs of the EU members’ leaders. The problem is that they are split. Some are trump fans (Italy, Hungary), some can’t imagine life without murica (Germany, Poland, Baltics, probably), some want more autonomy (France, Spain). This is merely a fragile compromise.

Gsus4@mander.xyzOPto science@lemmy.world•“Red meat allergy” from tick bites is spreading both in US and globallyEnglish95·6 days agoProbably. In some situations where there are no predators and you have semi-wild herbivores roam (usually goats, they are the least picky eaters) to eat forest fuel to prevent forest fires, it might be an ecological solution. But otherwise, yeah, red meat is something to reduce, not sure if this will be enough.
