Privacy@lemmy.ml•The shady world of Brave selling copyrighted data for AI training
1·2 years agothanks for the link, there were a few options in
about:configthat I hadn’t set to falsealthough even after going through all those Firefox says
Telemetry is collecting release data and upload is disabled.so even if it’s not being sent it appears that it’s still being collected. (about:telemetry)maybe it will change after reboot, I will edit later if that’s the case.

214·2 years agoI switched to Firefox 6 months ago and it’s working much better than Chromium for me, I do have some minor complaints but for the most part it’s been equivalent or better.
However I can’t seem to turn off the telemetry at all…

Asklemmy@lemmy.ml•Anyone else missing posts in smaller Lemmy communities because they are overshadowed by the popular ones?
1·2 years agoI think some way to temporarily exclude/include which communities’ feed show up would be ideal.
And maybe some way to tag or group up communities into collections.
I played the old DS one many years ago, it’s a great game, I’d definitely recommend it if you haven’t played it.
With that said I personally won’t play the remake even though it looks really good, since while the graphical improvements are a plus, at the end of the day it’s still a puzzle and story game so I don’t see how I would get any replay value out of it since I already played it.

Piracy: ꜱᴀɪʟ ᴛʜᴇ ʜɪɢʜ ꜱᴇᴀꜱ@lemmy.dbzer0.com•HowTo: Download Video Content from ANY website
0·2 years agoInteresting. I’m pretty sure it was on AUR when I installed quite a while back, but looks like it’s in Extra now yeah.
It does make sense though since youtube-dl hasn’t been working for about a year.
I should’ve checked before commenting

0·2 years agolike I said only the original youtube-dl package is in
extrabut it stopped working a while back.since then I’ve been using the
youtube-dl forkyt-dlp that OP mentioned, but it’s inauratm since it hasn’t gotten as recognized as it’s a fork (I assume)Basically yt-dlp is a fork of youtube-dl, and unlike youtube-dl it’s in aur instead of extra.
At least last I checked all youtube-dl forks are in aur, but you have to use yt-dlp (or maybe one of the other forks) since youtube-dl doesn’t work anymore.

0·2 years agoEdit: It seems yt-dlp was at some point moved from AUR to Extra. I was half expecting it to happen eventually since youtube-dl stopped working about a year ago, but I never noticed it happening.
Either way, as it’s a package on extra instead of AUR there’s a lot less of a security concern for anyone worried about that.
Original comment:
I have yt-dlp from the AUR (Arch User Repository). youtube-dl package also exists, and it’s on extra, but it stopped working about half a year ago

Skyrim Mods@lemmy.world•A list of community-vetted learning resources for modding newcomers. If you want a beginner's guide, I invite you to start here!English
1·2 years agoWhen I learned how to use xEdit I saw this video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=khJWk6EUGtU
There was another video too but I don’t seem to have it bookmarked.
xEdit, known as SSEEdit to Skyrim SE players
Yeah, so the thing is xEdit, SSEEdit, FO4Edit, or whatever, they’re all the same. You literally just rename xEdit depending on which game you’re using it for.
So when modding Skyrim Special Edition you rename it to SSEEdit
And I can’t recommend xEdit enough. If you’ve got a lot of mods there will inevitably be mod conflicts.
With xEdit you can quickly (and fairly easily) make merged patches to combine the changes of multiple mods into a single new mod.
e.g. one of the mod might change how Potions look, another how much they cost, and a 3rd what their effects are. Normally only the mod last in the load order will have it’s changes apply, but with a merged mod you can combine all the changes and resolve the conflict.
With xEdit you can also modify stuff from the game and create your own mods. There’s lots of little tweaks I wanted, like changing carry weight, duration of Fortify potions, make food useful, remove salt from lots of recipes, change the player starting skill levels, etc. etc.
There’s existing mods that do all those things, but if you want it to be exactly how you want it rather than how the modmaker wants it you have to tweak the numbers yourself.
With one of the scripts
Automation Tools for TES5Editadds I even made my own Perk Trees in xEdit: https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/49373It was definitely daunting and somewhat confusing in the beginning, but it was definitely worth it and I can’t recommend xEdit enough.

great. I tried to play the original a few years ago but I didn’t manage to get it to run
