  • He has ICE arresting “illegal aliens,” that’s being protested. ICE has killed protesters, that is also getting protested. The issue is that bastardization of our education system has lead to a large amount of the population believing that ICE is doing the right thing. Because they are racists. We aren’t fighting Rump or his administration, we are fighting an increasing in size radical white national group within the US.

Europe is also racist. It’s just that the people have learned that it is better to side with each other than the aristocrats. The US built its entire image on not having aristocrats while that group consolidated power and pinned the population into racial infighting to prevent notice. Are problems are different

Also, if you are in Europe then you have your own problems. When I look in to it there is always all kinds of fucked up shit. US citizens just don’t care because we are up our own ass. I would say you care because you are up our ass too, but the US probably has a military base in your country or an adjacent country. And you or that country probably fucking like it. If we are so bad, so far gone, fight that. You are commenting on us getting fucked and we are literallyinside most of Europe. Fight that you self-righteous cowards. If you did, it would make it easier for us to fight in our country. But you won’t because your fucking scare.

  • No, protests could (and should) have happened earlier. They also have.

The No Kings protests occurred but caused little social changes. Given that the US doesn’t have the same social support system of other countries, it is difficult for most people to protest for an extended time without essentially destroying their own life.

Due to rampant racism, the Black Lives Matter protests simply resulted in most white people taking personal offense instead of actually comprehending the systematic bias US society has against blacks and minorities.

Occupy Wallstreet lasted pretty long, but was co-opted by fringe social movement groups and homeless plants by police. And that happened during the presidency of everyone’s favorite Dep president darling, Obama.

My point is that protesting right now, during an election period, instead of just fucking voting doesn’t make much sense given that US society has very clearly marched to this point with everyone aware.

Afterwards, when the system clearly doesn’t work, and/if we are still fascist, sure let’s fucking riot.

With regard to the “coward” comment. If you aren’t in the US, you likely don’t have the same social political, economic, or societal factors in place so you can’t really judge.

Also, more crudely, if other countries had got off sucking US dick decades ago, it would have removed US soft power, wealth, and resources, and allowed internal social movements to have more weight. As example, we wouldn’t be able to amass such a large military if other countries hadn’t allowed the US to be their police. So, kindly fuck off and fix you own damn problems so we can do the same, though probably slower because of you cowardly enabling fucks.

  • Edit: I’m clearly going to get down voted into oblivion, but that doesn’t really matter. What does matter is that if you are a US citizen, protest AFTER the upcoming election if you are going to do it. Especially if you are in a “red” state We need to remove as much of the veneer of legitimate as possible from this administration. If you protest now, there is a risk your vote gets removed. Don’t listen to dumb fucks from other countries who have no concept of the social issues of the US. They don’t even understand the moral, economic, and social issues around tipping. Their opinions are invalid. VOTE. It probably won’t work, but we can always protest etc. After. This act now right before midterms bs is just ignorance or psy-ops.

Original post below: He’s doing this to create civil unrest so he can declare martial law. You are suggesting people take action that aids that goal.

  • Wow, you are very wrong. The landlord simply does a pipe check and clean out after changing tenants, this proves it was you… You know… Legally. That is pretty standard practice. After that, the plumber assesses the cause of the clog. Based on the assessment, misuse can be determined. You have a right to your option, but legal proceedings are independent of your opinion.

But good luck with that approach, and cheers if it has worked so far.

  • Thanks for the link, but I actually do understand how pools and algae growth functions. I’m a biochemist (or, at least I was), and have been taking care of pools off and on most of my life.

It would be a fuck ton more difficult to manage a pool with tidal water as a source compared to potable water. Its not the only reason the pool has grown more algae, and its still ultimately due to mismanagement during the Trump administration (i.e. not monitoring/managing the algae level and water source). However, ignoring how the switch to tidal water effected the number and frequency of algae blooms is disingenuous.

Are we doing a “blame the right for everything and not attempt to be honest” thing because that is their go-to? I mean, I’m down I guess at this point, but can I get a wink or something when we are doing it?

Anyway, here is an article discussing it: https://cen.acs.org/environment/water/why-the-reflecting-pool-turns-green/104/web/2026/06

  • I mean, I honestly don’t like Trump. That said, the pool was originally drinking water, and an Obama era revamp switched it to filtered tidal water. The water that fills it now has way more organic molecules, even with the filtering, leading to algae blooms. The blooms can’t really be treated with standard algaecide due to its effect on wild life.

Trump made the situation worse by painting the bottom of the pool. But the reason is was good for decades prior was due to being drinking water, which has far less capability to host life.

  • I … Don’t believe you are correct here. The US has the most destructive military (non-nuclear) on the planet. The country simply does not have the appetite to actually commit blood, sweat, and money to this war. If they start striking the US, the US people will see it as an existential threat and be far more willing to dedicate as many resources as nessesary to eliminating the threat regardless of the fact that the US started it. That would be bad for everyone, but especially Iran.

It is far better to have the US population largely split in their support for the war effort.

Because at one point in US history hunting black people was an accepted institutional practice. While their are scenarios where it occured with other groups, the implied threat is a return to slavery like conditions for “democrats.”

But if it makes you feel better, I’m sure racist white people will try to reintegrate those other groups as less than human too.

  • “I’m not sure where you’re getting anything about spitting in your food, typically in a sit down restaurant the bill and tip are reconciled at the end of the meal so there’s no opportunity for that even if they wanted to.”

Tips are collected prior to pick up for many sit down restaurants if you plan order take out (which is independently more BS given you weren’t even waited on). Delivery services and restaurants have suggested they would tamper with food if no tipe is provided. Perhaps that was more localized to California or the Bay Area though.

“And are you implying that being expected to tip is the same as being raped?”

    Umm… No.

My point is that it is an exploitative process that has been normalized by US society. If you think rape is horrific then that’s good. You should. You should also be absolutely horrified that it has been treated as a running joke for prison sentences for generations in the US at this point. My general annoyance is that so many exploitative aspects of US society have been just… Accepted. Tipping is probably the most benign.

Thanks for the links on the history of tipping, I’ll have to take a look.

Although, I don’t see how this takes away from the general issue of owner exploits employee, employee exploits costumer, if costumer does not give in to the (voluntary) exploitative system the exploited worker turns on exploited consumer instead of employer.

It just seems your suggestion is to keep being exploited until the system fixes itself because otherwise the worker can’t afford their cost of living. Luckily for me I can’t afford to go out anymore so I’ll just pay the excessive cost of groceries and GET ASKED FOR TIPS IN THE GOD DAMN GROCERY STORE NOW!!!

Anyway, this is probably not a debate worth having, but thanks again for the links.

  • So, what is the solution then?

    1. No one go to restaurants anymore.
    • Employer probably has some form of insurance and will get paid out after claiming low demand for the service in the area.
    • Employees still get fired.
    • Community lose a restaurant and there is a lower chance of another one coming.
    1. Go but don’t tip.
    • Worker gets screwed because their wages aren’t worth the work without tips.
    • worker either needs to quite or unionize (strike) to get a higher pay.
    • Worker is afraid(?) to do that so blames the costumer for not tipping.
    1. Grass roots campaign to change tipping laws entirely
    • Workers are against it because they tend to make more with tips than with flat wages because some people can and will tipe very high.
    • Owners are against it because they lose more money on labor.
    • Costumers are for it because it doesn’t guild them into having to pay an undisclosed fee with a guilt trip assigned. However, they are unlikely to rally in favor in larger numbers than employers and employees because it does affect their day to day life as much.

It may be just me, but this seems like turning serfs on serfs while everyone goes to the powers that be rather than actually addressing the issue. I mean, I’m fine with just eating out less and tipping when I do, but I don’t see how not tipping is morally wrong when they entered system was about morally exploiting the costumer.

Also, the process only exists because restauranteurs had difficulty paying their employees during the great depression and encouraged them to accept payment To Insure Promptness (TIP). Can we just go back to a system when I only tip when my food is delivered quickly and the service is above average rather than to prevent people from spitting in my food because that is somehow now socially acceptable?

Am I missing something though? Because this whole thing seems like a less horrific version for rape being an implied additional punishment of jail in the US.
