DMT is IMO not a “recreational” drug. The few times I’ve done it, it was a shitload of mental and emotional work to keep up with. Definitely alternate realities though – LSD lets you wander into otherworldly thoughts; Psilocybin lets you visualize them vividly; DMT slams them into your sensory apparatus like a brick wrapped in lemon
