Isn’t she using the word in the familiar sense, not as a pejorative? I don’t care much either way, it’s just a beauty pageant after all, but this doesn’t seem like racism to me.

This is why I try to avoid listening to any music that has the N word in it. If I’m not allowed to say it, I don’t want it running through my subconscious. I don’t want to place landmines in my vocabulary. That rule kinda sucks though because there are some great songs that use it. I want to be able to sing along with songs that I’m grooving on without having to self censor.

Is she black? I feel like you don’t get to say it ever, if you’re not black.
The other thing is that even if it wasn’t racist, it doesn’t follow their standard of conduct.
