This might be the most worthless statement in history.

Even more reason not to use Meta products.
I have a shell alias that opens a task file named YYYY-MM.md. This keeps the notes from getting too long. It has really helped me out in meetings where we need some kind of reference to what decisions were made or when something happened. So it serves as a work log and a task list.
Splitting by month also helps me trim tasks from the list that were not completed but are no longer high priority. They just don’t get copied to the new list. I can still look back to see things I had aspired to but never did. Like “yes, you asked me to do that 3 months ago and then it was deprioritized.”
I leave finished tasks in so I can see when I did things and refer to the links that I left myself.
What I’m seeing is that these trends are also hitting smaller companies whose leadership follows the cues. Now even at smaller companies folks are afraid to speak up and there is no more fun. I saw a huge shift in that direction during the layoffs in 2023.
If you’re part of a team that actually enjoys work and has fun while doing it, cherish that every day.
If it runs off inertia, doesn’t that mean that when the friction of the components changes due to lube getting dirty the shifting behaviors will change?

100% this. The full just. No redactions. Nobody is spared. Accountability matters.
I mean, it’s practically Russia. Sarah Palin can even see it from her house so it’s basically the same place.

Any time somebody like Trump gives a relative time frame to something you care about, resolve it to a calendar day, which cements it in time instead of letting it slip around.
The same person who did the cooking when I did live alone: not me.
The “commonwealth” appellation is merely stylistic and carries no legal or political significance.

There’s an old joke. Uh, two elderly women are at a Catskills mountain resort, and one of 'em says: “Boy, the food at this place is really terrible.” The other one says, “Yeah, I know, and such small portions.” Well, that’s essentially how I feel about life. Full of loneliness and misery and suffering and unhappiness, and it’s all over much too quickly.
What you’re describing is definitely the AI vibe: full speed at the cost of quality, logic, and all else.
To (quite badly) paraphrase Woody Allen:
“The quality of this code is so bad.”
“Well, at least there’s a lot of it.”
This is what happens when we remove the science from CS and start vibing.
The irony was not subtle: a nation that maintained legal segregation until 1964 was using black artists to showcase American freedom to the developing world.
