Reminder that cognitive decline starts at 40. By 70, your mind is mere shadow of what it once was. Yes, even Bernie is a shadow of the man he was when he was 40.

This is one of those things that will vary wildly by person. Some people are absolutely wicked smart in their 70s having had 7 decades to read, write and digest and reinterpret and reread information and some people are entirely mentally gone by that point.

It’s just like physical health, some people don’t do anything to maintain it and start decaying in their 30s and some people remain in amazing physical health into their 70s and 80s, and some people have something tragic happen that hobbles their health for the rest of their lives. You simply can’t make sweeping generalizations like you have

I worked with a guy when he was maybe 65 ish. I was very knowledgeable in his field of work. When he turned 72, it was a completely different story. I would only ask his for something when i was really desperate, and it hardly ever lead anywhere. Now he is 80 and he sometimes calls me out of boredom. When he wants to talk about work it’s like talking to a lawnmower. Maily noise and nonsense.

Im not sure. I feel much like my physical ability im much more measured when doing things both physically and mentally because I can’t just muscle things through.
