but an electric car is heavier than a hydrogen car, so the electric platform is less efficient. imagine carrying an extra ton of a batterypack wherever u go. hydrogen could be made from renewable energy, and doesn’t require batteries to be stored. battery metals are finite. u can’t scale that up. 5kg of H2 translates to 400km mileage.

  • only time would prove that ur instance would be reliable.

also ur instance won’t be an exception: when corps deem that u hav a high enough usercount instance that is making piracy content accessible among users, they wouldn’t hesitate to threat u legally, so federation with pirate instances shouldn’t be a selling point, unless u have an unlimited stock of money to hire a lawyering firm… still, i would gladly vouch for ur instance. We Lemmy as a whole can’t do much against corp action: they have the financial means to afford legal action, or run unlimited ddos attacks for days, bringing Lemmy basically to its knees, we need to learn how to tread through this, instead of acting like tough guys.

Also hope more people come out and advertize their instance and vowing that they u would maintain it as humanly possible, cause i am running out of recommendations honestly

  • Abolishing airplanes altogether is one of the least thought out takes I’ve ever heard.

yea, not altogether. i commented on this before https://lemm.ee/comment/2119584 : air travel should be limited only to transcontinental travel or cross country in Asia’s case (since its a bunch of isles at that point) efficient? ofc, moneywise and timewise. environemently friendly? dont think so. thoses tons of burned kerosene would translate into tons of co2 released, in a single flight. no wonder our globe feels like a microwaved cookware. fast and affordable have a cost.

i drew the analogy from the game warcraft: u only need to pay for a zeppelin when u want to reach somewhere that couldn’t be accessed by land, in a map. we just live in a bigger map.

  • yea i agree, but ur need is apparently met only by proprietery software, so those software companies wouldn’t be much compelled to create a linux version for ur favourite software; kinda cornered urself by the linux choice; afterall u need to design jewelery for living: learning a bit of windows if u found a cracked version should be kinda worth it, but i dont know better…hope someone offers some useful help

ur effort is really appreciated! also using linux help safeguard the environement. if it weren’t for it, my laptop would be unuusuable and become e-waste at this point. i am interested also in running ai tools locally: and it requires a lot of dependencies, and many of them run on the latest windows (which cant be installed due to a hardware limitation), on the other hand: linux is lightweight, comes with the latest dependencies and easily gets upgraded, just give it enough ram and disk space and u can see the magic happen.also with linux: helpful community, privacy friendly, full control of ur machine (if u want to) and thus less bloatware: in this case, u actually own ur machine, which is getting less common by time. linux is the future at this point.
