wolfshadowheart@kbin.socialto Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•What do you do if a cop approaches you and starts questioning you while you're sitting in your car in a public parking lot?27·2 years agoThere’s a lot of disappointing comments on here, like no shit you would use a different vehicle if you had access.
First, someone mentioned any cop has the right to check for insurance/etc, so being prepared for that and being amicable, as bright-eyed as you can be. Those marks usually get noted I think though. And another mentioned a sob story, harder in some circumstances but you can get pretty creative from Moms colonoscopy to funeral road trip (from the colonoscopy ofc).
However, I would like to add - do you have any way to meet creative people willing to turn your ghetto van into a painted art car? I was wondering what region you’re around (don’t need to mention it no worries) and you’ve mentioned a lot of small towns which makes me think mid-south or west. Either way, going over the car with some primer and a theme may help turn it from ghetto to art-van.
I would try hitting up craigslist or posting on local pages, if funds are an issue I would maybe just mention the situation, doing it in sections. A for sure place you can get it done though for free? Pretty much anywhere in the PNW (OR/WA at least) there are all kinds of weird parties and gatherings and I’ve seen tons of “paint me” vans, and honestly most of the time they look freaking sick. They’re always a mix of hand paint and airbrush.
If you are able to save some over time, you could technically apply these yourself for just barely cheaper than an auto-shop, but it would be some work. You’d need 1 - 1 1/2 of grey primer to cover the van - anywhere from $35 (check dates then shake really, really well) to $85. And then probably the spray/air gun.
Either way, you’ll want to follow the proper care for treating the car before you paint it - clean, sand, primer, (maybe sand, maybe not if art car), then the hard part is the clear coat. That part I’m not as familiar with unfortunately.
Last random idea, there are these like rental camper vans, probably a bunch of companies but faking one of those. Same idea as the art car just dumber lol.
Anyways, good luck and I hope in the future you have better reception to questions like this - and that you’re able to relax wherever you’re staying.
Chewing pepper corns greatly decreases a high, it’s not exactly pleasant but it works very well.
wolfshadowheart@kbin.socialtoGaming@kbin.social•The Pokémon Company Announces It Will ‘Investigate’ Palworld IP And Assets0·2 years agoSome of them seem pretty bad. I feel like the example image with the eyes and the teeth is quite a damning stylistic choice, compared to some of their other monsters which look more like a palette swap and animal change with some model variations. Save for the few that straight up have the same attack, like the Deciduueye example, I think it’s reasonable enough to use them for inspiration, although not necessarily the best option. It’s a shame they felt the need to rely on something that is popular I think it hurt them a bit by not having as uniform a vision.
That said, even if I do think it’s pretty obvious I don’t want them to lose this if anything comes of it, Pokemon is just as bad and they have nothing to gain from ruining this persons work other than asserting dominance.
I do hope they use this as a learning opportunity for next time and maybe stop being so goddamn blatant in their “homage”. I would have been much more inclined to the game if it felt like the monsters had some rationale behind them because the game is pretty solid overall. All I can say is that I hope the game continues to exist but maybe gets a more original in-world bestiary and not Pokemon Gen 15

As you progress through the game their patterns and locations change.
I actually am ambivalent on the latter mechanic as it really makes it a pain sometimes, but it still has lots of ways that it can work well.

It’s not really a hidden gem but I happened to find a really good deal on 2g buckets of concentrate for some Tang Breath - $5 if you can believe it! The same place also had ounces of flower for Tang Breath (for $23 if you can believe it!), so I actually ended up getting to have both at the same time which was kinda silly. They’re both about a year old, but honestly they’re really nice still, and the flower is in a perfect state for vaporizers.
-
One thing I always notice this time of year is that when you get a cup of really rich hot cocoa and then have a convection vaporizer you can really alter the way your cocoa is flavored, whether it’s piney or lemony, or gives it a more earthy taste.
-
We’ve been snowed in recently and we’ve been stuck spring cleaning since what feels like last year! Unfortunately my hobbies have taken a bit to the back burner, however I did recently get and set up a 5.1 sound system which I’m very pleased with! It makes for such a great afternoon to come back from walking the dog, get a cup of cocoa and vape a bit while sitting on the couch with some music, or being able to finally hear dialogue in a movie. I watched Tenet tonight and actually understood what they were saying! (Most of the time)
-
I used to have a recipe conglomerate for vaporized weed (ABV/AVB) on the orange site but I re-upped it on my profile here on KBin! If you use vaporizers and never know what to do with the leftovers, maybe these can inspire you! Also, you don’t need to vape to make these recipes, it’s just with them in mind. Any decarboxylated flower will work just fine!

Well, unfortunately I’ll have to make my positive memory one of memoriam. My first purchased vaporizer, the Grasshopper, was a very unique but troubled device and a couple years ago the company went under likely for good (and really for the best). I always had good luck with it, but last night after 6 years since my last warranty, it officially died. The Grasshopper looked very much like a pen, and my friend in college Lucy one day came into my room asking to borrow a pen, picked up the vape and clicked it, and dropped her jaw as it lit up from red to blue, asking in bewilderment, “I can smoke this!?”.
Quite a lovely vape that ripped like no other. Well kind of, the Tiny Might 2 is practically its spiritual successor in function :)

wolfshadowheart@kbin.socialto Trees@lemmy.world•Whelp not what I was planning on doing tonight.91·2 years agoOP is growing cannabis! When in the final stage of flowering, the cannabis plant gets “chopped” by the grower based on their preference of how far along the trichromes are in development.
Roughly, when the plant first starts flowering these trichromes are clear which is a bit early to harvest the bud. When the trichromes are milky is when the THC molecule has fully formulated, and for those looking for the heady sativa-like high this is a popular stage to harvest (as trichromes are able to continue developing during the curing stage). However, it’s safest/most common to harvest the plant when a majority of the trichromes are a heavily milky white and just as some are beginning to turn amber/gold/brown. The golden color is when the trichrome has matured enough to begin the breakdown process of THC, which basically become CBD compounds.
This process of clear -> milky -> amber is usually about 3 to 7 days, so OP is surprised it happened so quickly for them!
So as you can see in this picture, the dead center of the image have lots of clearish/opaque trichromes with a significant number of them beginning to turn amber/gold. Looks like a perfect time to harvest and begin letting them cure!

wolfshadowheart@kbin.socialto Star Wars Memes@lemmy.world•Welp, Saturday's here. Time to get drunk and watch Zach Snyder's Rebel Moon, I suppose21·2 years agoOh I’ve seen it, I actually like quite a number of bad movies. They have a certain charm about them.
This? There’s a total of 4 hours that we weren’t given - for part one. Characters are setup as a focus then literally never seem again. The overaggressive use of slowmo in all but one fight scene, the complete inconsistency of anything at all whatsoever, from the use of slowmo, camera angles, costuming, accents, weapons & sfx, aliens, character motivations, literally everything. It’s all meaningless and it just exists solely because it can. I’m generally supportive of do what you can when you can and why not, it’s fun. This was… Not fun.
The only merits this movie has are a couple of decent monologues that posit some philosophy. It is completely devoid of meaning and intent, gives no original takes from its “inspiration” down to straight up stealing scenes from SW and Seven Samurai. And then the movie just sort of ends after the most predictable event and the heroes literally rode off into the sunset.
Some movies are bad, be it on purpose or just as a consequence. Many times these bad movies can still have some merit, be it a certain charm or aspect that makes it particularly humorous.
What makes this movie so, so awful is the fact that it’s not trying to be bad. It’s fully ernest in how it presents itself as a science fiction film. Z.S. had full control and still couldn’t make cohesive narrative in 2.5 hours and we have a 4 hour version on the way. For part one!!! For fucks sake!
I have never felt such disdain for something. I finished it because I was watching it with a friend. At a certain point I just needed to confirm it legitimately was that bad.
There are many, many terrible movies that are far, far better than Rebel Moon. Made by people far less prolific than someone like Z.S.
FWIW - I liked the Z.S. J.L. because it’s self indulgent for a reason. This?

Nice, you won’t be disappointed honestly. I mean, I can’t do anything about it if you are but I highly doubt you will be!!
Did you go for a specific color or size?
Grinders for Life, the Brilliant Cut grinder.
It’s a 3 piece grinder (kief catches are pointless unless you want the sleepy aspect, light and air degrades the THC compounds over time) that uses magnets instead of threads.
I have arthritis so unscrewing sticky metal all the time was a no-go. Also a lot of metals make hands smell.
The brilliant cut looks gorgeous, is anodized, and is designed so that even if you stuff the fuck out of it it will still grind and no pieces get left unground and stuck in the center. They are a little pricey considering, but I have cleaned my grinders twice since 2019. They just don’t gunk up, they stay smooth and clean.
I probably was going through a grinder or two every year, I’ve had so many from Amazon ones to sharpstone to space cases. They’re all the same, realistically. The difference lies in how often you need to clean it and how easy it is to use. Of my 2 decades using grinders this is the first time I’ve not been worried about hands smelling, weird textures or metal flaking, or inconsistent grinds and sticky edges.
One thing to note: the color anodized at one point people had been reporting flaking. It also may have just been a temporary issue as I haven’t seen any reports since that ~6 months. I have 2 and use them daily, I wouldn’t say I’m exactly gentle with them and I’ve not had any flaking. If it is a concern though, they have a regular style as well
I just want people to be able to compete if they use cannabis. But you’re right that it would likely devolve lol
