I appreciate the response! When I set out to self-host, I made the decision to install everything separately, because I heard about docker and it sounded like, “plug in code and run”. And that’s something I didn’t want, only because it was a hobby and I wanted to learn more from a hands on experience. I learned a ton, sorting through those errors! If I did it over again, I’d probably use docker, based on your explanation, but I feel like that is an endeavor, in and of itself.

Why is this? I’ve never used docker before and when I set up my server a couple years ago, I installed Debian, Apache, and MariaDB and got everything set up relatively easily.

I always found this argument funny because how would you use pronouns for someone whose gender you do not know? They. It’s they. E.g. you are given the sentence: Jordan went to the store to buy apples. And you want to ask a followup question regarding how many, you reply: How many apples did they buy? It’s not that complicated. They has been used for gender ambiguity in everyone’s lives since grammar school. People just have an inherent bias towards trans folks and it’s incredibly depressing and sad.

Going on the assumption that these folks are competent. Just being funny, I agree that it’s probably nothing and that these officials are so out of their depth, they can’t properly explain anything.

So, I’m a bit of an enigma, so take my recommendation with a grain of salt. I use Tidal. It does the best, out of all my criteria.

• 1. Friendly privacy policy. It’s very straight forward, and from what my lawyer friend said, it’s pretty solid.
• 2. Hi def streaming. It’s a must for me, as I have some nice cans and speakers I wanna listen through.
• 3. Payout to artists. Although they don’t pay as much as Qobuz, they pay a substantial amount relatively, and the aforementioned points make up for the rest.
• 4. Ease of use. The app is really great and it’s easy to use and I find that after curating my music for awhile, I get solid recommendations and the radio stations always hit well. Although, I do wish there was more variety in the stations. Sometimes, it plays the same tracks across stations.

All in all, I’m very happy with Tidal and I don’t think I’m switching anytime soon.

I think Shane likes to get his name out there and get some recognition. He does well with the manosphere, but they’re slowly turning on him, from what I’ve seen, because he’s literally making fun of them all the time. He totes a fine line between offensive and sincerity. I met him once after a show, he genuinely seems like a cool dude. He’s made some mistakes that he regrets, but also owns them all. I think because everything he does is soaked in irony, it’s hard to find the real Shane. E.g. my family are huge MAGAs, but they liked Shane at first. Now they think he’s sold out and woke lmao. Overall, I think he’s funny and worth watching. Really love that the Saudis doubled his offer and still said no.
