  • I appreciate the response! When I set out to self-host, I made the decision to install everything separately, because I heard about docker and it sounded like, “plug in code and run”. And that’s something I didn’t want, only because it was a hobby and I wanted to learn more from a hands on experience. I learned a ton, sorting through those errors! If I did it over again, I’d probably use docker, based on your explanation, but I feel like that is an endeavor, in and of itself.

    1. Sun Times literally just released this article regarding the most recent privacy concerns.

    2. The graphic from Statista below shows that Tidal is one of the higher payouts for streaming. Spotify does not pay as well as Tidal. This is factually accurate.

    3. Yeah, that was weak on my part. I shouldn’t have said that. I let my emotions get the better of me, and for that, I am sorry.

  • Oh my gosh, you’re being pedantic. It has been used for “gender” ambiguity for quite some time. If you choose to be ignorant, then that’s your dill, pickle. At the end of the day, you get to choose whether you make someone happy, or sad. Why is that difficult? Why can’t you comprehend the concept of providing joy to someone? Why can’t you just be nice? That’s what this whole thing is about, right? You can either choose to be nice, or not. And I’m so tired of arguing with people to be nicer. Why can’t people get it through their thick skulls, that people just want to live and be considerate of each other. That’s what we all want, right?

    1. Payout per stream is a more effective delineation than the total payout. I listen to some niche artists and if I’m streaming, I want to maximize their profit off my streaming.

    2. Regarding ease of use, my issues with Spotify came in the form of all the AI slop they have pushed. They may have toned it down, but I won’t subscribe out of principle.

    3. They have not respected user privacy, therefore their policy is useless.

May I ask why me having a positive opinion of Spotify is important?

  • Thank you for agreeing with me! Singular they is only used for gender ambiguity! So, trans folks, or non-binary folks, who choose to go by an ambiguous pronoun, use it. You got it! Unfortunately, I am older than 30, my knees might be older, haha. Also, I’m not from GB/UK. I know grammar school nay have caused some ambiguity there, but grammar school is used in many English speaking countries. Usually, to refer to elementary, primary, or grade school.

Regarding your last diatribe, I didn’t even invoke transphobia. For someone so adamant on literal, linguistic definitions, you seemed to overlook the word bias. You have a predispositioned outlook towards trans people, because of your feelings on linguistic definitions. You inherently disregard hundreds of years of evolution in the English vernacular. Words have changed, evolved, and adopted different meanings throughout time. Do we need to cast out the word gay, because it now also means homosexual, when it originated as happy? Do we need to cast out the word terrific? You know, the word that was a synonym for horrific? I understand that you are ESL, but every language has different dialects, vernacular, and idioms. It’s why a thong in Australia is vastly different, than a thong in America. You can either adapt your knowledge of the language, or choose to emotionally hurt people on the premise of being “right and literal”. There is no need to create something new when society has deemed it acceptable. Just because you don’t, doesn’t mean everyone else is wrong. The question you must ask yourself is, “Do I care more about being right, or emotionally supporting another human being?”. If you have trouble answering that, well, we all have our answer then, don’t we? Cheers, mate. Hope you find, or have found, peace, love, and happiness.

  • So, I’m a bit of an enigma, so take my recommendation with a grain of salt. I use Tidal. It does the best, out of all my criteria.

      1. Friendly privacy policy. It’s very straight forward, and from what my lawyer friend said, it’s pretty solid.
      1. Hi def streaming. It’s a must for me, as I have some nice cans and speakers I wanna listen through.
      1. Payout to artists. Although they don’t pay as much as Qobuz, they pay a substantial amount relatively, and the aforementioned points make up for the rest.
      1. Ease of use. The app is really great and it’s easy to use and I find that after curating my music for awhile, I get solid recommendations and the radio stations always hit well. Although, I do wish there was more variety in the stations. Sometimes, it plays the same tracks across stations.

All in all, I’m very happy with Tidal and I don’t think I’m switching anytime soon.

  • I think Shane likes to get his name out there and get some recognition. He does well with the manosphere, but they’re slowly turning on him, from what I’ve seen, because he’s literally making fun of them all the time. He totes a fine line between offensive and sincerity. I met him once after a show, he genuinely seems like a cool dude. He’s made some mistakes that he regrets, but also owns them all. I think because everything he does is soaked in irony, it’s hard to find the real Shane. E.g. my family are huge MAGAs, but they liked Shane at first. Now they think he’s sold out and woke lmao. Overall, I think he’s funny and worth watching. Really love that the Saudis doubled his offer and still said no.
