It will also literally require physical infrastructure like the Roberts Bank Terminal 2 at the Port of Vancouver or Contrecoeur at the Port of Montreal. These projects have been in the works for over a decade but are only now clearing permitting hurdles. There’s still a number of regulatory steps before construction can even start.

Seafood is part of her culture originally being from a port city, which is fine for me. I personally don’t eat crab just for “ethical” reasons, but also because overall it’s a lot of work for little payoff. Like you said, I just find something else to eat.

My wife always has this guilty look if I’m in the room when she steams crabs. I’m probably going to advocate for this method going forward for all of our sakes, but damn if this isn’t still a cruel way to treat another organism you’re about to consume.

This is the one I deal with the most as well, but it’s a lot easier to do in the summer than in the winter. How grocers source their produce will determine the effectiveness of our boycotts.
