Using Bluesky as the non-algorithmic example is problematic - they still need to show high user engagement numbers for their VC owners. Mastodon do not have the same problems since on the contrary a Mastodon instance owner has an economic incentive in making sure spambots and troll factory accounts get closed down asap.

I started having arguments online back on Fidonet and Usenet. I’m too tired to care now.

troed@fedia.ioto Mildly Infuriating@lemmy.world•Seeing shit like this kills me. People are so ignorant.18·4 days agoAll social media is overrun by troll factories with the purpose of sowing discord. I just assume all such accounts are “bots” (although often human-run).
(Yes, some try to sign up also to Mastodon et.al. - but are usually spotted)

Not that Trump understands that a constitution can limit the powers of a president …
troed@fedia.ioto News@lemmy.world•Immigration crackdown causing ‘Trump slump’ in Las Vegas tourism, unions say15·5 days agoExactly. It’s enough to learn that we have to give up access to all social media accounts at entry and that if they find something critical of Trump (which likely exists on 99% of all European social media timelines) that’s enough to suddenly be sent to confinement for a week or … a month.
Yeah, no. There are other places to visit.

troed@fedia.ioto Games@lemmy.world•Battlefield 6 cheats day 1 of early access. Depite kernel level anti cheat, forced secure boot TPM 2.06·8 days agoYes. That’s how you get undetectable rootkits.
troed@fedia.ioto Games@lemmy.world•Battlefield 6 cheats day 1 of early access. Depite kernel level anti cheat, forced secure boot TPM 2.086·8 days agoSecureboot doesn’t “fuck with Linux”. It does protect you from malware trying to install unsigned kernel modules.
Apparently that driver is unsigned, which is not the normal case nowadays.

That’s very much part of “doing well”.
Also, that the PS4 numbers are included is no different from the PS3 before - and your claim was that Sony was losing customers at that.
Take the L.

Sony said its monthly active gaming users for the year ended April 1, 2025, were up 5% at 124 million users, which is the highest in PlayStation’s history.

Steam won, btw. Not Windows. The next “console war” will be Steamboxes vs Playstation 6.

troed@fedia.ioto Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•Are there older people with ADHD still taking stimulants?6·11 days agoBased on my understanding from a psychologist in the family who works with diagnosing ADHD in adults:
-
“GenX et.al.” were mostly never diagnosed as kids. Those that get their diagnosis as adults because they’ve been unable to successfully “handle” their ADHD do get on stimulants, yes.
-
ADHD is a lot more difficult to cope with during school than as an adult where you can be successful in other settings that don’t require you to sit still and listen for days on days.
-
ADHD can become a lot less severe after puberty which means medication might’ve been needed as a child but no longer as an adult.
caveat: Based on my understanding - I’m not the one with the actual knowledge.
