tinycarnivoroussheep@possumpat.ioto Solarpunk@slrpnk.net•book release: Murder in the Tool LibraryEnglish2·2 years agomaybe too this will offset all my Kindle recommendations from the trash romance novels I borrowed via Kindle on my library’s ebook app. I don’t actually want to purchase trash romance novels, thank you, just trash slice-of-life isekai manga
tinycarnivoroussheep@possumpat.ioto Solarpunk@slrpnk.net•book release: Murder in the Tool LibraryEnglish8·2 years agoAs ironic as it is to purchase yon library-economy-promoting book, our comrades still need that cash money to function in real life. And this indie ebook is significant cheaper than the last mainstream ebook I bought.
tinycarnivoroussheep@possumpat.ioto Knitting@lemmy.world•What other things do you usually do while knitting?English1·2 years agoAnother one for listening: mostly TV and youtube that are not visually heavy. I’m getting into some podcasts, but I haven’t made the leap to audio books yet.
haha, I’m glad I’m not the only dork who crocheted Xmas stockings for my pets
tinycarnivoroussheep@possumpat.ioMto Houseplants@mander.xyz•I made another planter. I need ideas for what to plant in it again.English3·2 years agoI feel like it needs something spiky. Haworthia or aloe? Or at least something upright like an orchid?
tinycarnivoroussheep@possumpat.ioto Solarpunk@slrpnk.net•Examining the Case for Universal Basic Income (UBI): A Solution to Capitalism’s Failures? - UBI’s potentials and limitations in a capitalist society — and beyond. Moving towards utopia.English6·2 years agoOn the one hand, it seems more practical, but on the other hand, infrastructure takes FOREVER to put in place and my lifeblood is gushing out of my wallet in the current time.
tinycarnivoroussheep@possumpat.ioto Solarpunk@slrpnk.net•What Are You Working On?English2·2 years agoSame for mending and sewing clothing. Except I’ve run aground a bit on my own perfectionism. I’ve somehow talked myself into making a pattern block for my butt so I can make the most optimal pants and shorts, but making a block is an Ordeal with Math involved and I haven’t had the bandwidth to accomplish it yet.
tinycarnivoroussheep@possumpat.ioto Solarpunk@slrpnk.net•the anti-15-minute-city backlash is ridiculous3·2 years agoIsn’t the argument that people with disabilities are better off with accessible public transit over needing an expensive car, possibly with expensive modifications? Not all people with disabilities can even drive, and installing things like wheelchair lifts or ramps on a personal vehicle can get hella expensive.
tinycarnivoroussheep@possumpat.ioto Solarpunk@slrpnk.net•A Future Without Work - Fully Automated Luxury Communism (FALC) could free us from the capitalist shackles of useless toil.English7·2 years agomy preferred version of the meme, which I stole’t from an internet acquaintance
tinycarnivoroussheep@possumpat.ioto Solarpunk@slrpnk.net•These cities are having drone shows instead of fireworks displays for Fourth of July celebrations2·2 years agoTwin Cities had a laser show in the rotation. I’m curious how that stacks up against drones, as I never heard if it needed a backdrop or some shit
tinycarnivoroussheep@possumpat.ioto Solarpunk@slrpnk.net•The future cannot be 'the status quo but battery powered' because that future leads to disaster1·2 years agoI can whip up a nice lil homily about how purity is not actually a virtue. Originally intended for fundagelical Christians (about the sechs or about not hearing/looking at cusswords), it can be adaptable to quite a few circumstances because it is always easier to look good than do good.
tinycarnivoroussheep@possumpat.ioto Solarpunk@slrpnk.net•What's something you learned in your job that can be used in a solarpunk lifestyle?English1·2 years agoI sell car parts, not really all that solarpunk as the industry currently exists, but automobiles are tools, and people with more know-how than me could figure out how to kludge together something solarpunkish from car parts.
I started with bamboo needles because I had a hard learning curve for knitting, but now that I’ve leveled up I’m thinking about getting a metal set, especially in the smaller sizes. I have hopes that it’ll help my gauge issues, but chances are it won’t help that much :(
