I still slip and say ATI sometimes.
I used VLC for years and years but mainly on Windows. When I moved to Linux exclusively for my personal machines a few years ago, I started using MPV just because that’s what was installed. I play all videos from a bash command line that launches gamescope to get HDR support for videos that support it (currently stuck on Nvidia). Works really well.

I’ve finally recently figured out these crazy Sony multi-point headphones that I paid way too much money for (back when I had the money to spend). My situation is probably niche, but maybe typing this out will help someone.
The headphones can connect to multiple devices at the same time, so they’re usually connected to my work laptop and my phone.
My laptop is a Linux host for a Windows VM, and in that configuration if I’m on a Teams call (Teams running on guest, headphones BT paired with host), something will time out and the audio will shut down after a period of time. To avoid that, I have to open the Sound Settings applet to the Recording tab on the guest for the duration of the call.
(Through this process, I also learned that my headphones work in two modes: HQ audio with no mic, or telephonic quality audio with mic. I have to run the latter for Teams, so that means I can only get the HQ audio from my phone in this arrangement.)
The problem I would run into is that I’d open the applet for a Teams meeting, forget to close it after the call, and then later in the day I couldn’t get audio with my phone bc with Windows “listening” (mic icon in system tray), the headphones couldn’t switch to my phone. Maybe it can only switch when the aforementioned modes match? IDK.
Initially I couldn’t figure out what was going on, so I’d re-pair with my phone which fixed that problem, but naturally that confused the hell out of my Linux + Windows VM arrangement and I’d have to re-pair there as well the next day.
Obviously the problem was self-inflicted in my case, but I think there are a lot of crappy devices out there with poor BT implementations. Hard to tell which is the case sometimes.
Thinking about this a bit, I could probably improve my situation by sharing the host BT device with the VM as it shows up as a redirectable device in the VMM. Might try that sometime.

But I’d happily pay the $599 MSRP
[The RX 9070 XT’s] place as the most popular AMD card right now isn’t overly surprising, as although its price has risen considerably since launch, it remains one of the
bestleast-worst bang-for-buck cards around, and sits at a price that’saspirationally affordableabsolutely ludicrous for many buyers.

In case you’re a backer and you’ve not thought about this game for ten years, the following is from an email about Early Access I received on 05/30. I have interpreted this to mean than random Steam folks will have Early Access before backers since the store isn’t up yet. I guess that doesn’t really matter since the game/servers could be (and likely will be) reset before launch, but it might be emblematic of how this entire boondoggle was managed. IDK. I stopped caring. I don’t even play MMOs anymore.
What does this mean for existing Backers?
Existing Backers whose accounts are in good standing and already own the game will continue to access Camelot Unchained through the Unchained Launcher. There is no additional cost for our Backers.
What about keys that come with existing Backer pledges?
Keys previously promised to existing Backers (i.e., Beta 3 invites) will still be honored. As it stands, our intent is to deliver these keys as a way for Backers to allow their friends to try the game before deciding if they want to purchase it. These keys will not be Steam codes, but will be redeemed via the Camelot Unchained store once it is back online, allowing Backers who are owed Beta 3 keys to distribute them to their friends as they wish. While this is yet to be implemented, we wanted to mention it here so that Backers know this method of access will be available in the future.
When will the CU store be open?
We are actively working on bringing the CU store online to provide an additional method for players to purchase the game.
Imagine calling the guy who played Dick Jones and Captain Jellico “the evil senator from SG-1”. 😆
Just teasing. Seriously though, he’s great in everything he’s been in. Terrific antagonist.

Dunno if all the described changes have gone wide yet, but I’ve not had an ad on my Roku since I set up my pi hole. https://pi-hole.net/
IIRC I hid/disabled the recommendations row through the Roku settings.
They released 440 episodes in two years? 😮

Me and my wife (not much of a gamer) have been playing All Hands on Deck and she loves it. Shared screen co-op puzzle platformer. Wholesome family fun!

Same boat. I last built in late 2024 when the 9800X3D dropped with intention to upgrade my video card in 2025. Guess what video card I’m still running? 😑
No complaints, though. It hasn’t let me down, yet. Just wish you could undervolt in Linux the way you could in Windows. My thermals were better.

I’m still angry that you can no longer see the selected row when the application window loses focus.

After having watched me play BG3 solo for 2,100 hours (with occasional breaks for other games, obviously) my spouse suddenly decided they want to play BG3 with me. They’re not a gamer and we’ve never played a video game together before for more than a half hour. Now we’re on our second multiplayer playthrough.
I’m so happy about the sudden interest and their sincere investment, and I don’t want to break the spell, but honestly I was kind of ready to play something else. 😆
Feels like an album cover.

Oh! Yeah, fair.

Would you have a source for the malware claim? I’m aware of the rootkit thing from 20 years ago but I’d not heard anything about malware in recent PC releases. I am a bit unplugged from news in general these days so I probably missed it.

Some posts I upvote, some I down vote, and some I just hide. 🫣

Blues Traveler just fully trolling listeners. 😆

I think this was the (recent) incident.
