Now that’s a pretty cool bit of news :)
Orthogonal, but I have fond memories of the firewalls mailing list (greatcircle.com iirc) as well as the Usenet Oracle
Just wanted to throw something else into the discussion.
I’ll preface this that a) I’m no economist, and b) I’m Canadian.
Let’s harken back to circa 1996 when the Quebec separatists were once again threatening to leave. Also, they were going to keep the Canadian dollar as their currency.
I was having a chat with a coworker, who did have a minor in finance. He pointed out that if Quebec separated and kept the Cdn dollar, their fiscal policy would be dictated by Canada.
So reframing this for Texas: if they seceded, would they keep the USD? If not, how quickly would they be able to design their own currency and mint it? What exchange rate would they use for their citizens and how quickly could they get the new currency into the hands of everyone, including out in the boonies?
I’m completely glossing over any considerations around what might happen if they kept the USD.
May we all only share and receive kindness.
Well said, @cokeslutgarbage
As a somewhat recent arrival to NZ, I found it interesting — starting with our rental car — that the speed limit is displayed on your dashboard. It changes colour as soon as you go 1 km over the limit.
All very cool. The most notable issue with this is there are sections of roads where this doesn’t work at all.
That said, there is a LOT of traffic calming here.
There’s still the occasional assclown that goes way over the limit. Unsurprisingly, that usually happens on long, straight roads without traffic calming.
Wild guess, reading between the lines:
Dad had an extramarital affair. His squeeze got preggers. Dad is suddenly pro-choice.
Mom finds out about the affair and the pregnancy and is now mad at dad.
OP only knows what his parents have shared, intentionally or not.
Interesting.
Will add that to my mental corkboard, thanks.
But Americans aren’t allowed to read the story anymore — by order of a court in India.
While the article starts out with what seems to be a decidedly “this is targeting Americans” bent, further reading clarifies that it’s a global thing, not specific to Americans at all.
🤔
Eisen meaning iron.
And Kot meaning vomit.
The phrase “zum kotzen” got burned into my memory decades ago.
A similar suggestion to the other poster:
Try relocating one of the troublesome units to someplace nearby but not mounted to the ceiling. The top of a bedroom dresser, the floor, a bathroom countertop, the top step of the stairs, halfway down the stairs, hanging from a wall (picture hook)… just get creative.
And since you haven’t mentioned it, I presume these are all smoke detectors? Do you have any heat detectors or carbon monoxide detectors installed?
Completely random, and nothing to do with anything:
Mice, which stands for “money”, “ideology”, “coercion/compromise” and “ego”.
3rd gen here. Didn’t care for any televised sports. So hockey and football (Leafs and the Argos) was a great way to put me into a stupor. Wasn’t even interested in playing.
I remember my dad taking me to watch a game once. I was more interested in watch the scoreboard than the game itself. I was probably 6-8 at the time.
Have them write a note to the ref.
Good penmanship will be important. To make things interesting, offence gets a quill, but needs to get past defence to get to the ink well.
“We have also developed a tomato which can eject itself when an accident is imminent.”
and what looks to be some sort of dried landlord repair fluid.
Not that the landlord needs to be really broken before you’re able to see the benefits of using the repair fluid.
For slightly broken landlords, don’t waste perfectly good repair fluid on them.
What the autotldr bot didn’t capture is this:
I’m not entirely clear on where “homicide” falls on the “second-degree murder” / “attempted murder” scale, though. To me, homicide has always meant the murdery type of murder. What does it mean for Forcillo?
