I wish. I love weed, and it’s waaaaaaay safer than alcohol, but it does have drawbacks. It gives me a lot of anxiety. I know some people who’ve had issues with Schizophrenia. And I know others who’ve had interference with their athsma.

It’s because we let the Democrats get away with being awful. Their goal is to be barely less evil than Republicans. If they had to actually fight for votes, we’d start to see results.

Since when does getting arrested require you to do anything illegal? Especially recently?

There’s a difference of scale, but they still did those things. You are still right here, right now, giving them a “pass”.

A lot of people gave Biden and Obama a pass when they were deporting, torturing and bombing innocent people. Some people seem to think that those things are only bad when the Red Team is doing it.

• runs on highly unpopular policies

I think you might have a skewed definitions of what “perfect” means. I think most people would settle for “not a monster” but that’s too high of a bar for the DNC.

Worse option is exiling American citizens, tanking the economy, persecuting minorities, taking away rights, ignoring the constitution and, notably, full backing genocide in Gaza.

I saw all of these things happen under the past few “bad options”.

Well then maybe the Democrats should stop following and supporting the Republican policy.

Well, I think I see the problem. You seem to think that the Democrats are a leftist party. They are a right-wing party that cosplays as leftist. Their goal is to soak up all of the actual lefitst votes, so that we don’t get actual leftist candidates.

Democrats are not on my side as long as they continue to:

• support bombing children
• support rapists as candidates
• support genocide
• support torture programs
• support facists
• support increasing the military and intelligence budgets
• fight against healthcare for all
• fight against civil rights

These would all be obvious wins for the Democrats, but they are clearly more interested in continuing the status-quo, than supporting what the voters want.

As someone that self-hosts those things, both professionally and personally, I’m gonna have to disagree. I wish more did, but there are plenty of self-hosters out there, they just don’t get headlines.

I get what your saying, and to some extent I agree. But I also don’t think that they would be fighting fascism if they had more power. When they were the majority, they spent their time building up the systems that the fascists are using. They built up the surveillance state, immigration control, torture programs and the police/military powers. They should have spent their time dismantling it, but the Democratics have the mindset of “It’s OK when the Blue Team does these things. Surely the Red Team won’t use that against us!”

I think you dropped this:

• supported genocide
• supported an unpopular president
• ran on unpopular policies
• let the voters know that she didn’t care about what they wanted
• wanted to keep the US military the “most lethal fighting force” despite the fact that we use them to kill innocent people
• gaslit the voters on the economy

Is Trump still worse? yes, absolutely. But maybe the Democrats could try running candidates that aren’t obviously terrible if they want to win.

It seems to me that they do know how voting works in America: If you keep voting for pro-genocide candidates, you keep getting genocide. Maybe one of the two major parties should try running an anti-genocide candidate.

I find it very telling that you blame the person who couldn’t stomach to vote for genocide, instead of blaming your polticians for being pro-genocide.

It’s always amazing to me how people will blame those that couldn’t stomach voting for a pro-genocide candidate, instead of blaming the candidate for being pro-genocide.

Maybe people should be mad at the politicans who gave up fighting for their voters, and handed the victory to Trump

Agreed. When I tried Lemmy, it didn’t have filters, so that was an immediate no for me. I just don’t get the appeal of being fed a list, and not being able to filter out the noise.

Yes. I find a lot of people actually learn what they are talking about before talking about it. I also find that a lot of people read what I write, and address those points, rather than points that I never made.
