Ok, I figured it out. Looks like this new mechanical keyboard I got does something when I wake the PC up that causes those 3 attempts to be triggered. So I just set deny = 0 in /etc/security/faillock.conf. And to be more sure, I set the unlock time to 0. Lol That was very stressful. Thank you for bringing up faillock.
How do I disable it? That link doesn’t show where to disable it. It just did it again and it’s driving my fucking insane. I literally didn’t do anything. I just locked my PC from the menu and went back to it to wake it up. I need this off my PC :/

I’m waiting for the PineNote to be out of the development edition so I can get one. I do have an older kindle that I jailbroke a while ago and disabled OTA on. It still sucks, but it is better with KOreader.

I can solder and do all that, but I honestly don’t want to now after watching how the process could be very lengthy. I’ll look into keychrone. Having dedicated media keys is a very important thing to me, if a keyboard doesn’t have it, I won’t even look at it. Thank you for the recommendation. Do you have any model number in mind that you recommend? I like red switches and 100% size keyboard
Oh damn, so you can program your regular letters to do that!!! Nice. I’m JUST starting to get into mechanical keyboards and don’t really know much. I have a Corsair K70 pro RGB with red buttons. It’s nice, but I just can’t get used to typing on it. I’m always hitting two buttons at a time. I have to lift my fingers really high and type. Second issue is the metallic ping. So, I’ve been doing some research to find me something I enjoy and also easy to type on. I love the clickitty clacks (or what they call thock). 😁

Doesn’t work on all dell laptops. Doesn’t on my inspiron. But dell bios has a “update bios from flash” option. So copy the .exe file into a fat32 USB and flash it there.lol. Done. I’ve done it a million times.
This is way too long and complicated for just a bios update. Dell laptops actually have a “update bios from flash” option in the boot menu. So all you need is a USB stick formatted to FAT32, copy the bios update file (that you download from their website) into it, boot into boot menu and choose “update bios from flash”. I have done this so many times and even made a YouTube video about it.
That’s also people who “recycle” to “save the planet” while big oil is fucking it up 1000 time more than us little fucks.
I wasn’t asking why I can bypass it, I wanted to get rid of it because it’s useless to me since my PC is physically in my basement and I’m right there trying to use it, not trying to access it remotely. Anyway, I got rid of it.
