Outside of the US there are also differing opinions. I support guns for self defense. I don’t like guns, but who am I to tell marginalized people to stay unarmed as the state tramples over them.

They’re right when it comes to politicians though. They both cater to billionaires and corporations, they both support bombing random ass countries, they both support sanctioning Cuba, etc. Not shaming anyone who votes for liberals, because they’re less bad domestically, but even then they’re constantly moving right, now throwing trans people under the bus and such.
In terms of ideology, both believe in capitalism and US hegemony first and foremost.
I’d argue liberal voters are more likely to be decent people, but their politicians aren’t very different, and that’s normally what we think when we talk about just how similar they are. Hell, even among liberal voters I find their support for the US military appalling.
I’m sorry, do commies not believing in US department of state propaganda bother you?
Because a lot of y’all have been condemning us for not collectively pretending the guy was a saint. Most of us never even celebrated, we just don’t feel sad with one less nazi in the world. Too cold? Think of how many of our people have been brutalized thanks to the rhetoric he promoted until his dying breath. There’s still LYNCHINGS ffs. But you don’t care about that.
I do too, if the capitalists will give up when we’re peaceful then so be it. If not, remember you’re not the one paying the biggest price to keep this machine running. It’s not you who’s been taken off the streets and sent to a foreign prison by ice, it’s not you whose country is collapsing under massive US sanctions, or being bombed by a military power for natural resources. I’m privileged enough to live a comfortable life in my own country, but every single day I’m committed to end the suffering of all people here and abroad, because they didn’t choose to wake up in this system. Again, my wish is for the monsters to peacefully capitulate. But seeing past behaviors we both know that won’t happen, right?
I don’t feel joy or whatever, but I don’t think it’s a big deal if people do. Hell, I’d have celebrated Hitler dying, so to me it’s a matter of where you draw the line. Drawing the line where a nazi deserves respect is silly imo.
All that said, again, the vast majority of people didn’t celebrate, we just refused to say we feel sad, because we don’t.
Does that care extend to the people who were victimized and made to feel unsafe by him? Because when this happened a lot of liberals came out to condemn people for “celebrating” (which we didn’t do) rather than ask why so many marginalized people didn’t feel like grieving. We’re not gonna give respect to someone who spent his entire political career dehumanizing us.

13·23 hours agoIt’s very relevant though. We deserve countries free from US interference. That’s not an excuse to pretend things are fine either, we still need to do the work, etc.
Good on you! Wish you the best
I get that, I hope you’re right, but it’s still a disappointing statement coming from a leftist. I have a hard time thinking he doesn’t know about Cuban democracy, but even if that’s the case, does he believe Cuba is less democratic than the US, where Bernie got screwed over by the DNC, where gerrymandering and overpolicing make some states red for perpetuity, etc?
I wanna be hopeful but AOC was a massive letdown so I’m skeptical. But if I’m mistaken I’ll be relieved. We all deserve decent politicians and policies.
I’d personally be way more excited about Mamdani if he hadn’t called Cuba and Venezuela dictatorships at a time when the US is ramping up aggression in the region. It really feels like helping manufacture consent and capitulating to the US empire. I hope he does a lot of good for y’all, but I personally don’t trust him as a latina living in Latin America.
Yeah, I deleted because I originally misread/misinterpreted your comment as a defense for the system rather than criticism, being tired and all. Please dismiss what I said.
I wish you good luck and all the support you deserve and need to get out of this situation.
If you believe the UN is anything other than a tool for Western imperialism you haven’t been paying attention.
The US isn’t constrained by the UN. But let’s pretend they are. Even if China or Russia vetoed all they’d get is the international community blaming them for the conflict not being resolved, while Gazans would still be genocided. I’m not happy with it either, but it is what it is.
Does China need to start WW3 for you to stop blaming them, instead of the western powers for actually perpetrating the crimes?
