Do you have a source for this that isn’t an easily-generatable png? I’m having trouble finding it.

Showerthoughts@lemmy.world•Phone charges should plug into the top of the phone not the bottom.
5·4 days agoIt’s horribly inefficient. I refuse to use it!
I know what you’re saying is true. But my gut tells me the whole thing is still suspect.
Imagine it this way. Libraries have a lot of books, and to make room for new, popular titles, they have to get rid of old books which haven’t been checked out in years.
Enter a book enthusiast. Say what you will about him, or why he’s here. He enjoys spending time around knowledge. He hangs out with his friends here. But his role in this library is that he pays for the pleasure of burning the designated books. He pays a pretty penny for the privilege of setting a book on fire. His money is important to keeping the library running.
Do I recognize his place within the library system? I guess. Do I want to be his friend? Hell no.

21·11 days agoI mean, by inspection, it seems easily true. If you’re working 100 hours per week, you’re probably not taking much time out for dating.
People who want school to be practical scare me.

Asklemmy@lemmy.ml•In your opinion, is space exploration necessary?
15·20 days agoThe point is the advancement of science, not simply the travel itself. Space science is integral to many advances we take for granted these days.

No Stupid Questions@lemmy.world•How come I can vote a yes or no vote for new taxes or bonds? But cannot choose where the money I give goes to? Should that also be my choice?
2·1 month agoI wouldn’t want to have to take time to review budget proposals for my municipality, province, and country every day after I get off work. We have people for that.
I don’t think this is as simple as “they’re too young to know”! I’m a 30+ year old man, and I was around 15 when YouTube first came out. I was a huge fan of the early days, when YouTube was free!
I am absolutely fine with paying a monthly/annual fee for ad-free access to perhaps the best compilation of human knowledge and entertainment which has ever been compiled in one place. One reason I’m cool with it is that premium views pay the content creator more than the equivalent ad view.
Sure, YouTube “created the issue” of ads. But if it means supporting the creators and removing a barrier to videos, I’m fine with the price.
