That would be true if we didn’t have an electoral college. Hillary Clinton won the popular vote.

I’d be too busy being surprised that Heaven actually existed, and that I made the cut.
I just learned this yesterday, and still can’t believe it. How can it not support hashtags? How do you find anything? Do they plan on supporting hashtags in the future, or are they on some kind of idiotic anti-hashtag crusade?
My nephew wants to buy a 3D printer, and I’d like to warn him. I’m worried that I’m too ignorant to do it effectively, though.
What is a slicer? What is Cura?
Thanks in advance, folks!
Microsoft reneged on promises it made in court…
If those promises aren’t legally binding, then why take them into account in the first place?
Fuck you, Palworld, here comes Donald Duck with a shotgun.
I don’t think I’m any smarter than average. Lemmy as a whole may seem that way, though, and two reasons come to mind immediately:
One, many of us have spent some time on reddit. We’ve grown up since then, and most of us have said “no more of that reddit crap, please and thank you.”
Two, people seem to have the patience to read longer comments, and think about them. I see more genuinely thoughtful comments here than pedantic ones where the subtext is “look how smart I am.”
This made me groan, but also laugh. Smartass.
No one else gets to choose your rock bottom for you.
Wisdom, right here.
Most definitely! I was laughing at myself as I wrote it, but posted it anyway.
Auto manufacturers are terrible at writing software. For my next new car, I won’t even consider a car that doesn’t include CarPlay. That excludes several US brands, but oh well. That was their idiotic choice.
I agree completely. I had the same concern as I was writing my comment, which is why I was careful to specify that it’s a nuisance suit. (Side note: autocorrect saved my butt. I can never remember how to spell “nuisance”.)
Filing a nuisance suit against her former employer is a great way to boost her career, and teaming up with a scumbag like Musk helps clarify her ethics for anyone who’s unfamiliar with who she is. Outstanding move, Gina!
The only way this might be worth Zelenskyy‘s time is if he silently beats Carlson to a bloody pulp.
The man has REAL problems to deal with. He doesn’t need to be “interviewed” by some fascist bootlicker.
This might have been interesting a few months ago, when they were getting the kind of free publicity that CEOs would kill for. Now that the momentum is gone, though, nobody cares. They took WAY too long to get their shit together.
This is by far my favorite answer.
To them, it’s “icky” and “weird”. Therefore, it must be WRONG.
Sadly, I don’t think that’s an oversimplification. For them, it really is just that simple.
Don’t get me wrong - this is a genuinely tragic, maddening, horrific situation. However, “left unaccompanied” is hilariously bad translation.
As a (formerly young) man myself, I can say with experience that boys are gullible. If something just had a veneer of plausibility, then that was good enough for me!
Still, this hit hard, because it’s so true:
He says [about boys]: “It’s not showing that emotional weakness. It’s also the expectation to always be right. Like you are not able to show that you can fail; that there’s more shame in doing something and making a mistake than there is just sort of sitting it out or dropping out.”
He stresses that many of the men he deals with have positive attitudes to women and feminism, but he says some can feel they are being stereotyped, or blamed for others’ actions.
I faced a lot of pressure to be “tough” and “perfect” (I’m not sure where that pressure came from. My parents weren’t the problem). I also misunderstood that feminism only means fairness and equality. “Fortunately”, I was trying to control an anger management issue, and I only recently realized that the experience had the side effect of teaching me that imperfections are normal and nothing to be ashamed of. Being fair was, well, only fair, so although I didn’t notice it, I never had an issue with basic feminism. I didn’t know much about it, but I wasn’t against it, and recognized that guys who were proudly anti-feminist were almost always jerks that I didn’t want to emulate.
The alternative was worse. Most Presidential elections aren’t about picking the candidate you want - they boil down to who you dislike less.
Besides, I wasn’t “defending” anyone; I was simply pointing out a fact.
