100%. You bring up some great points.
I have nothing to add, except I think Emma Goldman has a really good essay on political violence I think everyone should read. (though, not sure it very much applies to this particular act of political violence)

That’s awesome you got back into it for pure enjoyment!
Gear acquisition syndrome is real though. Fortunately for me I was able to recover from it in the context of guitars. Unfortunately for me I picked up photography as a hobby…
I play guitar casually since a little before COVID. Becoming more fluent with it every time I play is an amazing feeling.
Getting into a groove, putting my own spin/expressing myself with songs I like, and jamming with friends are experiences that are unmatched in enjoyment for me.
Making up my own silly songs on the fly is fun too.
Learning to play is the best thing I ever did. I had to get over the idea that it would be hard work to get good, or the idea that I’d never be as good as someone who started as a kid, or that I’d ever even be technically good, at all. Letting go of that stuff allowed me to enjoy each moment playing, and just have fun.
TLDR:
you can use adb
I figured “frame” refers to glasses, but looks like people are thinking it’s a box of some sort.
Edit: oop I see you already mentioned that in the post body
not sure how i can express how much i hate this comment. nice job.
I choose I. Why? I-C-E-D. Free? Yessiree. Cold and totally bold. Aloned and totally stoned.
I is the place to be. I is the place for me. High is the state of me. I choose I.
Me too! I prune my yard of invasives and let the natives grow, cataloging with iNaturalist as I see new species. My yard was a dirt slope last summer, this summer it is full of a wonderful variety of plants! My crotchety gardener mother and aunt keep trying to offer me non-natives to transplant – I tell them I’ve got plants growing already but thank you – they say, “yeah, weeds.”
Funnily enough, my yard with milkweed, primrose, violets, tickseed flowers, black-eyed susans, a walnut sapling, pepperweed, and st johns wort (not actually native here but not as invasive as some other plants) looks better than theirs and probably requires way less maintenance.
There are a lot of language learning resources on the site i use. I did a whole Michel Thomas advanced audio course for portuguese that helped me learn the basics. What’s the title of the french book your friend is looking for?
I mean it in a most sincere and endearing way. Gave me a joy and chuckle.
good post, sounds like a copypasta
Who moderates the discord? the main lutris dev?
Idk, I mean I’m not a fan of Pinker (his whole book on why violence has declined seems to ignore structural violence all around us, especially lower classes, and heavily supports capitalism) but evolutionary psychology seems pretty legit to me?
Geographically isolated groups of a single species will show variations of behavior and psychology that is affected by their environment and genetic predispositions – that seems like a pretty reasonable take.
Yeah, when people take that to racist extremes, its problematic. You can’t assume a person’s quality because, when it comes to individuals in a particular, geographically originated group, you don’t know where they landed on the spectrum re: genetic predisposition, and then you don’t know their current environment either. It all comes out in the wash. I don’t really think that means evolutionary psychology is total bunk, though. Its useful to put humans along with other animals when we think about their how their behavior and psychology are affected by evolution.
But the person above said
While technically true for some but not all places, in reality it’s just not a practical thing anymore as it has been displaced by motorized transportation and social media being where 99% of the people are, respectively.
You’re allowed to try to make people notice a website with no social media presence in the same way as you’re allowed to run for congress as an independent with a budget of the necessary registration fees plus $5.
Aren’t they pretty much saying the exact thing that you’re claiming nobody is saying? That in practice it’s still easy to create your own website, but nobody will use it because 99% of people are on social media platforms, instead
I dunno maybe I’m missing something.
I agree with you and the original guy – the web is still just a collection of interconnected computers, and it’s still open and mostly inexpensive anyone to host a website on. The trouble for the individual is the maintenance cost, especially if their site sees high traffic. But that brings us back to the idea that you’ll pretty much never see the same userbase as the large social media platforms.
This isn’t to say that the power held by Google, Meta, Snapchat, or TikTok to direct information any which way they would like doesn’t need to be dismantled. It’s just that the web is still free, in the sense that it is just a road to another computer, and you can still prop up a house with an address on that road for relatively cheap.
Hey! I’m not on the toilet.
right now…
US colleges after 10,000 Palestinian children are killed: “We need to stop antisemitism on campuses at all costs!”
I’m not really sure what theyre talking about tbh. I’ve lived here my whole life – my entire family is conservative catholic – and I still know plenty of poor and rich democrats. It’s different in the more rural areas though – they tend to run red. Southern NH probably helps outweigh the red rural areas.
Dude. I found a working baratza preciso at savers for $11 a couple days after I realized the same thing and decided I’d start hunting for an espresso grinder.
It was the perfect confluence of timing, interest in making different style coffees, and unwillingness to spend a fortune.
Undoubtedly my best thrift store find.
Now I can get pretty much like 75% of the way to real espresso (won’t get crema, but whatever) with my free secondhand aeropress and my $11 grinder. It’s amazing. Another $15 for a milk frother and I’m making yummy cappuccino style drinks easy peasy
