  • Going to protests. Talking (yelling) with my friends and family about it. Donating to orgs that help marginalized people and others targeted by these fascists. Supporting independent journalists. Taking additional precautions to protect my privacy online. Closed my Meta and Twitter accounts. Making plans in case I need to shelter in place or evacuate my home. Giving every cybertruck I see the finger to remind them they’re not welcome. Stopped shopping at vendors that kissed Trumps ring. Avoiding travel to any Red states to deprive them of the tiniest bit of income.

Every little thing you can do matters but making people aware of this bullshit and organizing locally is the most important.

  • Yeah they do. One thing covered late in this video that I thought was cool is that you can set both sides to be the same effect bank with the DIP switches enabling you to run two of the same effect at once into each other.

My only gripe with CBA other than price is that their pedals are not really meant to sit on a pedalboard on the floor. You’re really meant to be constantly tweaking the knobs to find new stuff then save the things you really like. This one probably more so than any other they make.

  • All of it is laughably wrong.

Other than “lower taxes” and “stop illegal immigration” conservative policies are largely unpopular. I put these in quotes because once you start to apply nuance to those policies they become less popular. Lower taxes for who? Middle America? No, for the 1%! Stop criminals from crossing the border? No, deport the farm workers and asylum seekers that prop up American society!

This is why conservatives resort to wedge issues, propaganda, and fear mongering to stir up their base. Nothing they actually do is popular. They manipulate people into voting against their own interest or just play on their own voter’s racism.

Personally, the fear-mongering about cities is fucking insane. I’ve been to a ton of cities and never not felt safe. Are there areas that you probably shouldn’t go to? Sure, but that’s been the case for all human history. Do you have to like cities? No, but don’t act like they’re a Wild West town where people get shot and robbed at a whim.

  • Below are my Salamanders WIP:

Just getting back into 40K over the past month or so. I haven’t played or painted since waaaay back in 4th edition when I was younger. Used to play Ultramarines and decided I wanted to be just slightly different this time around. It’s been really neat to see how much the game and models have changed since 4th. Back then YouTube wasn’t really a thing yet either so it’s been immensely helpful in figuring things out.

This is the Starter Set plus Eradicators in the back. I’m trying sub-assemblies for the first time with the Eradicators, might have made things harder on myself by choosing the option with the backpack cables but we’ll see.

Waiting on the rest of my paint to arrive so I’ll post more once I’ve made progress!

  • I don’t have a pic of my board from the beginning of 2023 so I can’t remember what I had on it back then but here’s my board as of today:

Newest addition is the WH-10 wah I got for Christmas. I haven’t gotten to play it much since I just got back from vacation yesterday though. The other big change I can point out is getting rid of the BBE Sonic Stomp mini I had always on. I like how it sounds with the guitar on it’s own, but I removed it because I found that when I would record tracks I would often have to compensate for it after the fact with EQ to make the mix sound better.

For 2024 I probably only want to pick up a Whammy Pedal and maybe a Uni-Vibe. I might pick up a RE-2 if the price goes down because I’ve always loved the Space Echo but never could have afforded one.

  • Like you said it’s important to reduce noise during recording. It does build up when you have more pedals especially big digital ones. If you’re just playing with a few pedals and don’t notice significant noise you’re probably good for now.

I do think it’s a good investment if you plan to get more pedals simply for the fact that many of them have outputs that allow you to power bigger pedals or switch up to 18v for pedals that support that.
