Chasm City Alastair Reynolds is kind of like a neo-noir style story in the Revelation Space series, might be fun even if it isn’t quite as mystery-centric as you’d like. House of Suns is a standalone by the same author that also has a mystery at the center of the story. It also might not be as mystery focused as you’re looking for, I’m not sure. Anyway, I recommend Reynolds as often as I can.

Edit: I can’t believe I forgot about The Prefect and the two books that follow. They are also Revelation Space series books and are about a Prefect that investigates crimes in a society made up of mostly-independent communities in various space stations that orbit the planet Yellowstone in a large ring called the Glitter Band. Very good series.

People are gonna downvote you but I definitely agree. I see why the trend is concerning but I dont think we need to keep everything around just because that’s how it used to be. Some things are allowed to change. When the quartz watch was invented, mechanical watches had to find a new niche and luckily they did. Both are still valid but their roles changed and that’s okay.

Very good advice! I have a tendency to be a shut in and during the covid-19 pandemic it was at an all time high. I learned that my mental wellbeing is helped if I sort of divvy up my living space into areas where certain things are done and others are not. Eating in one place, games in another, sleep in another, etc. Just in case that is applicable and/or helpful to anyone.

This just looked sooooo bad lol I cant even imagine getting my ass up, going to the theater, and shelling out $40 for tickets and a popcorn to sit through it. Also I cant fucking stand jared leto and I really cant fathom why they keep putting him in things when there is a pretty good talent pool out there

I like toast, eggs, and coffee for a work day and whatever Im feeling for a free day (which tends to be toast, eggs, sausage, and coffee lol I usually do wheat toast and i get ground sausage tubes because they’re easy to freeze and such)

I started the Hainish Cycle books by Ursula Le Guin and have gotten to The Left Hand of Darkness . They are a lot of fun as they feel very nostalgic for me. I very much want to re-read some Anne McCaffrey after this. They are also very sad, as they are usually allegorical and do not reflect our society in a positive light. Nevertheless, they ring very true and are very thought provoking, and her writing is outstanding.

Edit: If anyone is a fan of Le Guin but has NOT read any of Octavia Butler, I highly recommend her works. Especially the Xenogenesis trilogy.
