Dad’s Place (has) filed a federal lawsuit against the city, accusing officials of violating the church’s constitutional rights. The lawsuit has not been withdrawn from the court system.
Good. I hope Dad’s place keeps going with the lawsuit, and wins.

One item buried in the 887-page blueprint has attracted little attention thus far, but would have a monumental impact on the health of America’s seniors and the future of one of America’s most popular social programs: a call to “make Medicare Advantage the default enrollment option” for people who are newly eligible for Medicare.
Such a policy would hasten the end of the traditional Medicare program, as well as its foundational premise: that seniors can go to any doctor or provider they choose. The change would be a boon for private health insurers — which generate massive profits and growing portions of their revenues from Medicare Advantage plans — and further consolidate corporate control over the United States health care system.
Killing off old people first, then gradually hitting everyone else … except ofc the wealthy.

8·2 years agoFires survive in the deadfall and forest litter, smoldering until conditions get warm and dry enough for them to flare up.
This is a direct result of forest managaement practices that didn’t allow for any fire at all … so when there are fires now, there is a huge amount of fuel stockpiled (dead trees, decades of fallen leaves, etc).

Maybe it’s because I’m Canadian so haven’t grown up listening to the orange kumquat on tv.
The problem is SCOTUS rules with original intent as the prime basis, so any in-depth ruling would take a long time for them to deliver. Kavanaugh said as much when he questioned what the word “insurrection” actually means.
I refuse to watch him anymore cause he makes my brain bleed.
I’ve never once heard him complete one cogent sentence without rambling off on some stupidity.
Mostly because it’s not SCOTUS’ job to make laws … they’re simply there to interpret what Congress has passed. Which is pretty much how high courts operate everywhere, including Canada, the UK, etc
The only hope America has is that Trump is convicted in one of his trials and receives jail time (hopefully a LOT of jail time). NAL but I’m pretty sure SCOTUS would back that scenario fully.
