1·5 days agoAh, I see. I love these kinds of games so I’m a bit ignorant to how others perceive them. If that’s how you feel then of course the game’s just not for you.
I want to play Myst one day. Everything I hear about this game says me I’m gonna love it.

21·6 days agoLunacid. It has such a weird and captivating world. Like, the first area is a cave that’s filling with a liquid moonlight. Big snails enjoy the moisture while weird abominations roam the floods.
Music is simply awesome, I listen to it outside the game from time to time.

2·6 days agoThe game is very nonlinear. If you can’t solve a puzzle in one place, you should go to another. Some puzzles require hints from elsewhere.
I had to look up a few solutions when I was done with exploration. That was a little bit unsatisfying but it didn’t ruin the game for me.

7·10 days agoDoom 2 is a great base for mods but yeah levels that come with it are ahhh a mixed bag.
But when we’re talking about a disappointing sequel, it’s hard not to mention Doom 3. Turning a fun and silly game into a slog with jumpscares is quite a decision!

121·1 month agoWhen my friend came out as trans to me years ago, I reacted poorly at first. A few days after that, I had a dream about accepting her as she is. I guess it was just the result of me feeling guilty but it made me really think it through. Then I apologized and our relationship was great ever since.

2·1 month agoOf course one could always use names. Having ‘I’, ‘you’ and ‘them’ is just more convenient it seems.

3·1 month agoimplying that there has to be some sort of gender-based polymorphism among pronouns.
Pronouns are a shortcut for a noun. They do not need to be linked to genders. Singular third-person pronouns benefit from some variance based what is talked about. As other comments pointed out, these third-person pronouns could be based on social status, age, physical proximity, familiarity, etc.
That’s all there is about my question.

3·1 month agoWhy do we need to base it on something?
Humans like naming things after other things. Like how we name people after concepts we like (love, hope, faith, etc).
He vs. she is already not that useful of a distinction anyway.
I agree.
We don’t gender any other pronouns, hasn’t ever been an issue.
Well, first-person pronouns don’t really need any distinguishing since it can only mean one person/group. Second-person pronouns are generally favored by context so they can be non-specific. But third-person pronouns can mean literally any person (including the speaker and the listener) so some way to limit who that ‘them’ might be is useful. At least, that’s my experience from writing notes about a society with no gender - I got really tired of endless ‘thems’ so I started using two sets of neopronouns.

Maybe I should start learning Japanese, honestly. I interact with a lot of Japanese media lately and being dependent on localizations (which are rarely ‘great’) isn’t good enough for me.
