This is what came to mind when I read the title:
elephantium@lemmy.worldto Technology@lemmy.world•Microsoft's Windows lead says the next version of Windows will be "more ambient, pervasive, and multi-modal" as AI redefines the desktop interfaceEnglish1·10 days agoSeems logical. Glue, gluant, sticky.
I hadn’t expected a dictionary search to come up empty, though.

elephantium@lemmy.worldto Showerthoughts@lemmy.world•Standing desks are like gym memberships. Plenty of people (and offices) pay for them but never use themEnglish41·11 days agoWe have them where I work. I’ve used the standing function, oh, maybe 2-3 times. Is that enough to count?
elephantium@lemmy.worldto Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•Is there an actor you can't stand? Do they have any exceptions?English2·11 days agoI loved it…in the 90s. I haven’t seen it in a while, so I can’t speak to how well it’s aged.
elephantium@lemmy.worldto Showerthoughts@lemmy.world•"The Continental United States" should include Alaska since it's still a part of the same continent, but common usage of the phrase seems to exclude it anyway.English2·19 days agoI was going to post to mention “contiguous”, but you beat me to it
elephantium@lemmy.worldto Technology@lemmy.world•Hertz' AI System That Scans for "Damage" on Rental Cars Is Turning Into an Epic DisasterEnglish51·27 days agoThe technology isn’t there to accurately assess damage. It’s there to give Hertz an excuse to charge you extra money. It’s working exactly as the ghouls in the C-suite like.
elephantium@lemmy.worldto Explain Like I'm Five@lemmy.world•Can you ELI5 why we get deja vu?English1·28 days agoLook, if you didn’t get it last time we told you, you won’t get it this time.

Progressive enhancement - yeah!
elephantium@lemmy.worldto Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•What's the Holy Grail item in your hobby?English0·1 month agoKissBee
First hit, confusingly, is this:
Further down I see a group of girls – Japanese pop music? That would have been more informative than ‘idols’.
elephantium@lemmy.worldto Technology@lemmy.world•Women are anonymously spilling tea about men in their cities on viral appEnglish2·1 month agoIt’s less about technology and more about evading accountability, I’d say. This would be a sort of cyberpunk version of “How dare you accuse the baron’s son of tipping your cows?! He’s a fine upstanding young man, so of course these accusations are groundless.”
elephantium@lemmy.worldto Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•What's the Holy Grail item in your hobby?English0·1 month agoI understand most of the individual words in your explanation, but it doesn’t really tell me what the point is. About all I got from it is people writing back and forth to each other, and since you mentioned ‘otaku’, probably a Japanese fandom thing?
I could google for ‘exchange diary otaku’ and maybe find a better explanation, but tbh I’m not that invested.
elephantium@lemmy.worldto Technology@lemmy.world•Women are anonymously spilling tea about men in their cities on viral appEnglish4·1 month agoIt makes me super uneasy. I can easily see this type of model being expanded and applied to more and more things.
Call for a refund because something you ordered never showed up? Wrong trust chain, you’re automatically lying, refund denied.
Report someone for T-boning you? Wrong trust chain, you’re now arrested for hitting them.
Etc…

I can’t help but “hear” this as “Ninety eez”.

Verizon math? Or do you actually mean half a penny?
No. I felt sorry for people born yesterday, but I think today’s kids will be OK.
Not sure about tomorrow, though. :P
