  • Yeah the incentives are very good on makerworld.

I actually got my printer (A1 and ams) from points I earned from one model of mine that’ was popular (jumping spider).

    100% paid for with points.

I was able to buy a A1 mini and ams lite a year later for my nieces and nephews. Though I think I’ll be taking it back cause they never use it.

But still. Was pretty cool I could buy all that with points from my free models.

Some people say I should sell them but on cults3d you can see how much people sell their models for and how many were sold.

I earn more making them free. It’s just the money is Bambu gift cards. I believe you can exchange points for actual money now but it’s like 30 cents on the Bambu dollar. So, I’ll just buy filament with it.

  • Most of my models have free licensing and all of them are free models.

The ones without open licensing are remixes so I can’t grant that. With the exception of one model I have restrictions on selling online only.

I don’t have a ton of models and maybe nothing you are looking for. A few toys. A few functional things.

But I wanted to make free models for people who can’t afford licensing.

I’m also on printables thingiverse cults3d but my makerworld account has more stuff posted on it.

The stl files are also on makerworld. Just click the down arrow next to “download 3mf” (green box) and select STL files.

I have detailed tutorials for my big projects like the cat clock and Harry Potter egg.

I get points when you download from makerworld (if you have a makerworld account) Which I use to buy filament. So I can make more free models.

So there is a reason I keep my makerworld account more up to date. To try to encourage downloads from there.

For example . I used up 4 rolls of filament to design my cat clock and it took me about 100 hours of design edits.

Plus I spent ~$50 on hardware for it.

It’s a free model. But I earn back some of my expenses by points on makerworld.

I make models as a hobby but I try to not spend too much to design anything. Cat clock was the worst offender. But it’s a pretty cool model (eyes and tail move)

Anywho. If you like anything I have , just scroll to the bottom of the description where I list if licensing is free.

Like I said. Most of my originals are with 1 exception. The cat clock. Online restrictions only.

But remixes have some restrictions because they aren’t fully mine.

  • I had watched this self defense video or clip from probably the local news. Idk. I remember it was orientation for women’s self defense.

I was laying on the floor watching TV and my 1 year older cousin came over and pinned me to the floor. Like straddled me. (We both were girls btw but she was a little bigger than me and sometimes did this sort of thing to tease) Anywho. I remembered the move from the show which was like you bring your legs up so that your feet come in front of their neck/chest and then pull your legs back down which flips them backwards.

    But see I’m not skilled.

I was able to get my legs up and my feet to get in front of her body to pull her upper body backwards. But only barely. So was more like my legs pulled back down harder and faster than I wanted.

Slammed her so hard and she hit her head on the hard floor really loud. I felt bad. Cause she was just playing around and I had almost knocked her out.

I wonder if she still remembers that. I remember she was super surprised I pulled that off. Usually it was like slapping fighting when she would do this stuff.

She wasn’t a bully or anything. Just teasing. Being goofy really.

I still feel bad about it.

  • Sitting on the porch in the middle of the night in October/November. With a blanket. Or any other cooler month.

People don’t realize. That yes. You can bring a blanket outside. To your porch.

And no one is around at 3 am and it’s so silent and eerie. And perfect. Even in the city, there is way less people. But outside the city it’s dead silent. Like everyone disappeared.

It feels… Different than the rest of the time.

3-4 am is the most interesting hour of the day.

Try it next time you wake up with a full bladder in the middle of the night. Or have insomnia. Don’t go back to bed. Instead Grab your blanket. Step outside.

Honestly only ever done ketamine once. A buddy of mine really loved it and offered.

To me it felt pretty much like being high on pot. Except no bad smells (I don’t like pot smell), no munchies. No red eyes. No dry mouth. No tiredness. I don’t think there was any change in energy but I was more relaxed. I mean. It gets you high.

I never got paranoid on the marijuana so I can’t say if that effect is different or not on ketamine. And I don’t care for the marijuana much so it’s been a number of years since I got high, but I smoked plenty as a teenager. So I’m comparing it to that.

I do recall having strong closed-eye visuals on ketamine. Like the fractals and stuff and having a hard time going to sleep (because of the fractals). But not really like how acid keeps you up. I was able to go to sleep after about an hour after I got home.

Started maybe around 7 ish. I think I went home around midnight. Still high.

We chilled. Talked. Listened to music which was really pleasant. More than normal. But that’s true with marijuana high too.

I can’t say I liked it. But it wasn’t unpleasant except for the insomnia.

I’m picky about recreational drug use. Feeling intoxicated (drunk or high) isn’t really my thing. Because to me it just makes me feel kind of stupid and like my mental abilities are severely impaired. I can’t watch a movie and understand much unless it’s simple comedy. Can’t read a book. Can’t work on a hobby project. Can’t remember much the next day. And if it’s alcohol, it takes a full day (or 2) to recover.

So to me, being high is a waste of my time and is just frustrating.

I also have gotten drunk a few times and accidentally broken things or lost things. Spent too much $$. And it just doesn’t seem worth it. I’d rather have bought something more lasting.

I’ve Broke a lamp by knocking it over. Lost a pair of shoes, jewelry, etc.

Now some people really like getting high. So they might like ketamine more than I did.

To me it was just very similar to smoking some weed. Just less sleepy.

Also ketamine tolerance, apparently, builds very fast. Making it high risk for addiction.

So my buddy told me he bought this big bag of white powder from China. (This was like 7 years ago btw).

I tell him I don’t do lines. So I had to basically hold it in my mouth. Between gums and teeth. It taste like crushed Tylenol, btw. Taste lingered until the next day.

Now I only took equivalent to one line/dose. The whole night. (I think, but maybe 2? I was high and can’t recall).

My buddy had started before I got there. Then did a line when I started. Then did another like a half hour later. And another and another. Im pretty sure he did like 5 or 6 lines while I was there for those few hours to the point I was getting very fucking concerned. Because I was high as fuck on one and I didn’t even snort it. Like he was.

I voiced this concern after his second one with me. Like 30 min in. Because I knew it was at least his 3rd. Maybe 4th.

He assured me he had done way more in previous nights and that the drug was making him more responsible with his drug use. (Whatever the fuck that meant).

When I went home I decided I was going to talk to him about his very serious drug problem the next day.

Now I’m open minded and I think recreational drug use is fine in moderation. People have autonomy. I respect their choices in such things.

But when it’s your friend scaring you like that. You have to say something.

So I go over and try to talk to him. I say "bro. You did like 8 lines last night. Do you realize how much that is ?. And you told me it’s not the first time you binged . And the bag you showed me, You said it’s not the first bag you bought. " I tell him I’m not judging. I’m just worried. Maybe he doesn’t realize how much he’s doing .

The convo went nowhere. He assured me he had it all under control.

I ended up moving soon after for a job. I still talk to him occasionally. I think he got his shit together but he didn’t mention this process with me. Probably because I moved. Maybe he was embarrassed. But he’s not dead so I’m assuming he’s good.

Anyway. That was my only experience with ketamine.

And the only drug I ever saw a responsible recreational drug user friend get addicted to, super fast. Scary fast.

  • Do you like ai data centers and the havoc and destruction they are doing to the world?

    Probably not ,right ?

We have to Be mindful that using AI generated images is a small part (but a part) of how data centers are using up resources and expanding.

It’s true that mass surveillance is the big guzzler. But even personal use of AI generators is the bad option.

I too used image generation for political messages. Art is power. And you can easily make statements with generated images . I made an exception for political art because I thought that was different. The intent was different than blatant theft of other artist’s work, like a lot of other AI slop is. So it wasn’t as bad right ?

But then I became more aware of the situation we are in.

More aware of the scourge of AI data centers. And what impacts they are having.

And it’s just not worth it to make these images.

Data theft is only part of the problem. Continuing to use and promote AI media is encouraging dead-internet and normalizing something that we all need to reject.

As a last note. Lemmy users , (not everyone but generally) are anti AI . Very much against AI generated images. So you will never get upvotes even if it’s clever, the message is good, or any other positive quality. It won’t beat out the disdain for AI for most users.
