News@lemmy.world•Sufjan Stevens is relearning to walk after Guillain-Barre Syndrome left him immobile, hospitalizedEnglish
14·3 years agoGlad to hear he’s recovering well. People underestimate the degree of deconditioning that happens after just a few weeks of immobilization and hospitalization. Looking forward to more great music from him.
But also… Tumblr?

151·3 years agoDoctors of osteopathic medicine (DO) are legitimate doctors (at least from my experience in the US healthcare system). They function identically to doctors of allopathic medicine (MD) with the rare addition of osteopathic manipulation. But their standards of training and credentialing are essentially the same. You’ll find crackpot DOs and MDs if you look for them.

I think I’m most impressed by the clean cut cross sections you got

3·3 years agoYeah the big draw of custom keyboards for me was trying different switches, so hot swap was a must. I already have more switches than I need. If I could do it over again, I would have first invested in a switch tester

3·3 years agoI have no plans to buy any more boards anytime soon. I’m not a huge fan of the taller keycap profile of the Keychron, but I’ll give it some time before considering different keycaps

2·3 years agoIt’s the 1st generation Google Pixel Stand, a wireless phone charger. Overpriced and not worth the money since I prefer wired charging to maximize battery longevity

3·3 years agoOh no, I’m not ready for that yet. I’d never be able to use a random qwerty keyboard again

4·3 years agoStill deciding. I’m relatively new to the hobby so still getting a feel for different switches. I’ve only recently become a fan of linears after discovering heavy linears, and now going back to tactiles feels so crunchy. The bananas have a very light bump at the top, so once you pop through that, they just feel like smooth linears. The bump for me basically serves to prevent accidental key presses when resting my fingers on the keys.

0·3 years agoI’m sure it’ll happen eventually, but at the moment I don’t see the big advantage to anything smaller than a 75%. It makes sense to reduce the length of a board to make more mouse space, but reducing the height (or depth I guess?) doesn’t seem as important and removes some functionality. Sure, it looks nice and compact, but form follows function
Yes it was. The city had a super eerie feel back then, didn’t it?
Oh that’s cool, I didn’t know the raised oar salute was a thing, but that makes sense.
They sometimes have boats too tall to pass through along the river, but they just raise one bridge at a time to minimize traffic disruptions. Kind of a fun spectacle to see if one hasn’t seen it before

Cute and sweet and all, and I’m glad she’s okay. Really. But I’m not sure that “we couldn’t find our child for a few hours” is news-worthy.
