It is currently permanent (with option to show hidden in communities), but temporary is a good idea. I don’t think anyone has requested that on Github yet!

Certain settings are synced on your account. But some settings are Voyager-specific and cannot be synced.

Unfortunately it’s not super clear what settings sync or don’t. It’s something I’ve thought about improving in the future.
