  • The best way to make federation work is by users not even having to know or care. Do users even know email is federated? No, they just sign up with a provider and it works. Same with the phone network, sign up somewhere and you can call everyone in the whole world.

I think part of the reason that users don’t get it is that the federation is sometimes explained too much.

Beehaw sets a really good example here because it doesn’t really promote itself as a lemmy instance but as a unique community that just happens to be connected.

  • I think the fine is way too high for someone like him that didn’t actually make millions of the modchips involved. He’s really a fall guy, not a figurehead. It’s pretty unfair of the US court system to make an example of him like this. Yeah he did a bad thing but no, he should not be fucked for life just because the real leaders are out of their grasp.

It this kind of thing that’s the reason I’ll never consider moving to the US (and I don’t even like visiting). Its society is just too harsh for me.

PS: I do have to say his name is super funny, sorry 🤭

  • I’m not saying it’s impossible. I’m just saying I shouldn’t have to decrap a piece of software I actually paid for. Over and over. Also, whenever they introduce some new crap it usually comes with new GPOs that also have to be enabled to remove it again. It’s like whack-a-mole.

Obtuse? Sure! Features that shouldn’t be hidden behind an upgraded license? Hell fucking yes!

This is what I was saying really. This crap should never have been there in the first place as it’s consumer-hostile.

    Impossible? Fuck no, hell no.

I never said this :) I said it was annoying having to do it every time. Yeah I have pro. And I know what GPOs are. But really, you can’t expect an average consumer to do this. Also, it’s less work to just change things back manually every time than to figure all the GPOs needed. It’s really just super annoying that it happens in the first place. I expect software I buy to be made to help me, not work against me.

And I never mentioned Linux in my post even though I use it myself. I know this is not a suitable alternative for the majority.

  • Especially for women I found that most women I hang out with are kinda bi-oriented and have had sex with a woman at least once and liked it. It’s really the majority. For men it’s a bit more of a taboo still. Personally I don’t find men attractive as such but penises as such don’t put me off. It’s not about the genitals, it’s more their faces and behaviour that just doesn’t attract me. If the guy is a bit feminine/queer and I like them I’m sure I would end up doing something 😆 (though I haven’t as of yet). So I’d put myself down as heteroflexible.

Now, I have to say that the people I hang out with are mostly in the kinky and swinger community so they are definitely not “normal” 🤭 and neither am I obviously. But as far as I can tell the amount of bi oriented people is indeed way way higher than the 10% we’ve always been told. I think it’s a spectrum even and not many people are on the absolute edge of it.

But most of the people I hang out with are not in the Gen Z age range but a lot older. It’s not just Gen Z’s that are becoming more open about sex. But one thing I really like is that the taboos are dropping. I can openly talk about these things with all of my friends. I always hated that taboo about talking about sex with people you’re not intimate with.

  • Yeah and that didn’t take very long. I mean how long was it since they started pushing the “new” edge until the crapware started showing up? Only a year or 2 IIRC.

I mean normally the rule of enshittification is that you wait inserting all the crap after people have started adopting your product. They didn’t wait long enough. I always knew they would do it but at least I didn’t have to wait long to be proven right.
