Wander@yiffit.netto PC Master Race@lemmy.world•The landscape of PC gaming is confusing and expensive.English31·2 years agoI recently build a PC and this is what I learned:
- Modern CPUs get crazy hot. AIO water cooling could make sense depending on what CPU you use
- GPUs are expensive but higher end GPUs will make the build last longer. Nvidia is a must for anything related to AI.
- NVME storage is a no brainer option for a new build
- Make sure the motherboard supports the RAM or doesn’t throttle it
- If you have the space a larger case will be better for cooling an upgrades. GPUs get crazy large.
Overall go to pcpartpicker and look at what people have build with your choice of GPU / CPU.

Did she check the control singer? If the control doesn’t say she’s a fascist, but the other one does, then it’s not a placebo but her actually being a fascist.

Wander@yiffit.netOPto Fediverse@lemmy.world•PSA for Lemmy instance admins: in backend v0.18.3 there is a bug that causes your instance to stop federating properly and to stop sending out outgoing messagesEnglish5·2 years agoIt should be safe as long as you put in a valid timestamp and not some other value. If you run a large instance, then you run the risk of pseudo-DDoSing yourself by sending a large amount of requests to dead servers, but unless you’re a large instance you shouldn’t have to worry about that.

Instances which are very much alive at 12AM which is when this gets executed.

I’m trying to figure out what could have interfered with these checks in the first place.

Wander@yiffit.netto Fediverse@lemmy.world•Petition for lemmy.world to close registrations.English5·2 years agoYes. That should fix it. There is instances that are genuinely down. Later today I’ll try to share a script to detect which ones are down and which aren’t via curl. In our case we had 350+ false positives.
Yes, but It’s pretty hands off since 99% of security stuff is managed for you by the Lemmy software, including rate limiting. Just make sure you use a secure password and if you want put the instance behind cloudflare which is super easy to do.
