  • I used to think back in the day that authoritarians couldn’t take over in the modern world because everyone knew better, especially in some western countries where they broke away from it and built entire countries based on rights and freedoms. I know it’s coming from a place of privilege and I always thought I took that into account when thinking about these kinds of situations, but I didn’t realize I could be that fucking wrong and in so many different ways. I didn’t realize that the reason why it’s able to happen was because every single company and institution, especially the ones that the people rely on, will literally do whatever the government wants without even second guessing it all in an effort to save their own ass. I didn’t realize it was naive to think people could be better than they used to be. I’d see things like the Civil Rights Movement in the US and women getting the right to vote as prime examples of how good people can be when they get together and that we we’re “growing up” as a global society despite its flaws and outliers.

This all disappoints me in a way that I have never been disappointed before and it genuinely makes me lose my faith in humanity in its entirety. And the fact that it’s all coming from the oldest generations in the world is so infuriating. They took their biases into the future and instead of learning from it they decided to teach the next generations to be shitty to each other all over again. The fact that we live in the information age apparently makes no fucking difference when people just ignore the information. Literally feels like there is a perpetual feeling of disappointment and anger that I feel with every fiber of my being and I don’t like that feeling. Sure, there are good people in the world and I love people and will always continue to do my best to make the world a better place, but I have absolutely no faith in humanity as a concept at this point. I feel like a tired old man at the age of 30.

  • I’m starting to think this is a worldwide issue and we are slowly reaching the climax of global society. Governments and US politicians caving to Trump, the slow adoption of authoritarian laws, the increase of mass surveillance around the world, governments denying genocide when they see it, politicians ignoring the public, and so many more issues. I feel like every world leader has blackmail on every other world leader and we are just waiting to see who gets exposed first. And when that does happen, I expect a domino effect of things akin to the Epstein files being exposed as every world leader gets their dirty secrets leaked one after the other.

  • I went to the dentist a few months ago to get a couple fillings. I haven’t had insurance for years so I haven’t had the chance to go. They said after I was done that it’d be something like $20 with insurance. Fast forward to two weeks ago I went into the dentist for a normal cleaning and before I even sit in the chair I’m being told that I still owe $900 from my last visit. They told me that my insurance denied my claim and that I had to pay in full. Was it a lot? Not really. But that’s also almost an entire paycheck for me. And as someone that lives basically paycheck to paycheck it can make a huge difference.

This is exactly why I haven’t been to the dentist in three years. I hadn’t had insurance and didn’t want to pay a ridiculous amount just to get a filling or two. Figured now that I have insurance through work I can start getting my teeth sorted. Felt so pissed off that I didn’t even set up another appointment since they’ll probably deny me again 4 months later.

And after all that, I’m sure you can guess what insurance company they provide through my job. Here’s hoping I don’t get that diabetes that runs in my family.

  • I heard a lot of people talking shit about him starting a meme coin and that it makes him just as corrupt as Trump. And I don’t think that’s entirely unfair or unjustified, but at the same time I feel like that’s the point. If the president can do it, why can’t a governor? If it’s wrong for one then it’s wrong for the other. If it’s no big deal then it’s no big deal for either one.

If you think what he’s doing is bad then do something about it. He’s not a great person and I personally do not like him, but he’s making a good point and basically saying “come at me bro” because he wants them to fight back so he can throw it back at them.

I’m not saying that making a meme coin is right when “my guy” does it. I’m saying it should be wrong across the board and that’s the point he’s trying to make.

  • Yeah, they would. Not the politicians or hardcore MAGA people online, but the people in my community that overwhelmingly voted for trump definitely would. The majority of them are radicalized and indoctrinated, not evil. My parents voted for Trump but I don’t think they’d celebrate my death just because of what I voted for.

You are lost, my friend. I hope you find your way that doesn’t involve being happy when children die. If your fight against radicalization turns you into a radical yourself the only thing you’ll accomplish is moving the target.
