  • I would argue increasing investment in Canada at a time when we’re economically distressed is a pertinent move that would produce a net positive for Canada when you consider the alternative.

I would happily condemn such behaviour in more fruitful times when we had the capacity to place greater value on higher level needs. However, in our current circumstance we have to make difficult choices.

Stealing bread to feed your family is still stealing, but it’s most definitely in the grey area or morality.

  • A minister of AI makes sense, you can’t just ignore it.

A stable economic environment allows for us to make investments today that pay off in the future, but in a war like environment you need to mobilize the infrastructure you have and build support around it. Whether we like it or not we have a number of valuable resources in the ground and we need to start moving those resources elsewhere so we can invest in a renewable future.

There’s a lot of stuff I disagree with Carney on, but what I appreciate about him is that he is a pragmatist. He understands that at times you have to put your personal values aside and take the action that makes the most sense.

Winston Churchill was a racist, but he had the balls to take on Germany and not bend. Lincoln hindered post war reconstruction and his authoritarian overreach was unprecedented but he was the only person willing to tear a nation apart to rebuild it.

Leaders need to be able to put themselves aside to make decisions that produce the most utility for those they lead. This means occasionally getting pie on your face or going against your own heart. A snake acts dishonestly with malice, that’s not what’s going on here. Our current circumstances demand pragmatism we can’t crucify the only person in the room willing to act like one in the face of that.

  • Pratt & Whitney is genuinely and substantially Canadian in every way except ultimate ownership. PW does its own research, development, marketing, and manufacturing of its engines. They aren’t taking American designs and building them on Canadian soil, own owns its own product lines outright.

The PT6 turboprop is a workhorse engine and wholly Canadian. The Longueuil facility employs 4500 workers, it’s deeply woven into Quebec’s history. They recently invested $275 million into facility and have long supported Canadian aviation.

It’s shocking how many of the leftists that hate fake news and sensationalism are falling for it readily when they want their own narrative to be true. This is not news, it’s not a grift, it’s not a lie, it’s not a conspiracy. It is fake news and bullshit to push an Anti-Canadian agenda.

  • Ok so here’s the problem. In the politest way possible, you don’t understand the new deal.

Canada owns the 6.4B in costs to construct the bridge. This includes the debt and interest.

Canada WILL RECOUP ALL COSTS TO CONSTRUCT THE BRIDGE. DEBT WILL BE PAID OUT. YOU HAVE TO PAY THE DEBT AND INTEREST IN ORDER TO GET NET PROFITS.

After the debt is paid you get net profits. These net profits will now be split 50/50. Previously, Canada was to receive all of the net profits in an effort for Canada to recoup the costs of construction faster. Then the split would be 50/50.
