While I agree that there’s always room to improve, I struggle to understand why you think this is a negative development. Is joining the EU as an associate member worse for Canada than not doing so? Why/why not?

It wouldn’t be SMART for Russia to invade Lithuania, but unfortunately the prevailing theme of the 2020s has been that world leaders don’t always make the smart decision.
