One of the great things about Lemmy is that you can control your user experience. No algorithms, no “suggestions” being forced on you, no ads, no data mining, no spez/Musk/Zuck. So curate my Lemmy space heavily and enjoy the peace and quiet and slow pace. R*ddit was my only social media for years so Lemmy is similar enough to that to be familiar and useful, but different enough to be worth using.

1·2 years agoAlso, I know it’s typed out somewhere, but I can’t find it and couldn’t understand it anyway. Could someone explain to me as if I’m technologically useless and just a bit dense generally, how to connect with communities on other instances? Something about copying links and pasting them somewhere? I’m on jerboa if that means anything.
Pretty much everything has a bit of lag on my end. Not complaining, I understand why, just letting you know.
It seems a bit laggy to me, but that’s hardly surprising. I hope we can form a good little community of outsiders here! 👍
