  • I live in Canada, we have universal healthcare and we still have a huge homelessness problem. Its because everything is so fucking expensive now and there is pretty much zero support for mentally ill people or drug addicts. I live in a relatively small town and we even have a few homeless camps around. The police will raid them and make them move all their shit out every once in a while, but then they just come back again, they have nowhere to go

Also not disagreeing that the US needs to fix it’s healthcare

  • The worst part where I live(Ontario, Canada), they aren’t even high end, they are just insanely expensive. An absolute pile of shit mass-built subdivision home where I live starts at about $500k. Houses where they cut every single corner possible and only hire trade workers under the table or minimum wage. Houses where they pay off inspectors to be able to build without following codes. Houses where they rush every single worker because they are building them as fast as possible. It’s a fucking joke.

  • I’m a construction worker in Ontario, and I know it’s anecdotal, but almost every trade worker has told me the same thing - we’re busy as hell but we can’t find guys to hire. Pretty much for the past 3 or 4 years, that’s all I’ve heard. I was pretty much hired on the spot when I joined the carpenters union in 2019, and I worked with a 19 year old kid who walked into the union hall the day before, and they asked him if he could start the next day. With literally 0 experience. I think we are really hurting for trade workers.
