Daddy Druckmann must subsist on meals of mainstream praise and developer crunch, how else would Daddy Druckmann survive.
In-spite of its potential for liberation and independence.
When it shows that potential, maybe more people will get on board. Until then there are a host of problems that make a ton of people not want to touch it including but not limited to:
Capitalists and scammers are already exploiting it the way they do with traditional currencies, except in sometimes new creative ways because of either the lack of regulations or because the technology inherently makes it impossible to trace.
I don’t see the involvement of predatory capitalists or financial institutions changing in a fully crypto world either, because people are always going to need financial services like loans and insurance on their savings and the financial institutions will always have the imbalance of power.
The currencies mostly benefit people with a ton of capital to handle consensus, which further entrenches the power imbalance found in (1) and (2).
Insane amounts of resources are needed to reach consensus in a way that is not good at all for the environment, whether that be electricity, computer hardware, or whatever other resource. Sure we already use a lot of power to make our society run. But crypto is asking for more ON TOP of that, compounding the issues. Saying the financial industry already uses a lot of power is not a good argument when I don’t think anyone is reasonably convinced that they’re going away even after crypto were to take over, and now you’re adding an insane power or pollution requirement to run the world’s currency system.
Relying solely on crypto leaves people destitute if their wallets got hacked, unless they decide to utilize traditional banking with insurance (hint: people like stability and a lot of people will choose to do this over having their life savings wiped out).
Chucklefucks are using the technology to commodify and break the best part of the digital world which is the ability to have bit for bit reproducible copies of information.
I’m serious. Fix all of that and you absolutely would get people on board. Not even kidding. Crypto would be taken seriously. But I have yet to hear compelling solutions by cryptobros.
True but sometimes the tortilla rips open and the foil provides solid backup
That’s one of the reasons wrestling fans prefer the term scripted or staged as opposed to fake. It still requires tons of athleticism, and lots of wrestlers are still taking very real hits and injuries despite trying to minimize the impacts of them.
It’s simultaneously possible to realize that something is useful while also recognizing the damage that its trend is causing from a sustainability standpoint, and that neither realization particularly demonstrates a lack of understanding about AI.
Larian has had several massively successful Kickstarter
Well that’s the thing though, right, the genre actually literally had a major revival when Kickstarter became a thing. Before Kickstarter existed no one really understood the power of crowdsourcing.
The math only really works for 18+ inch pizzas though. The pizza places around me don’t even offer 18 inch pizzas. 14" large or 16" XL are the highest they go. In that case at most places near me, two twelves is often cheaper per square inch and does have more area than one 14" or 16". Especially since Domino’s usually has coupons for two 12s that make it significantly cheaper than 1 L or XL.
Gotta be honest with you, arguments about colonization kind of ring hollow when they were literally the original tribes living there and then had their lands colonized away from them, but still form a cohesive ethnic group thousands of years later. Unless we’ve started to impose some arbitrary statute of limitations I’m not aware on colonialism so that we exclude Israel from being colonized and the Jews exiled? Denying Jews rights would be par for the course throughout history I guess. I condemn acts of genocide, but I’m not going to say Jews don’t have some rights to the territory.
The same people saying Jews are colonizers will also talk about how literally any other ethnic group (especially Native Americans) should be given their land rights back. Their reasoning gives me a headache because it’s cognitively dissonant, and I’ve had a few agree and realize the situation is much more complicated and nuanced after I pointed the double standard out to them.
If we want to criticize the Israel state and their military for their policies and actions, giddy up. I’m on board. If we want to have discussions about colonialism, sorry, but I’m getting off this ride because I can’t justify moralizing over it
“Return to work”. Motherfuckers, they were already employed. 🙄 I bet CNBC is one of the companies that had a controversial RTO policy. I utterly resent these attempts at trying to normalize deceptive language for return to office schemes subconsciously, like people that don’t want to return to office aren’t working somehow and it’s somehow their fault it’s a problem, and not the fault of an inflexible employer.
Even knowing this, I’m still both in awe and jealous of talented people. Some people I know who can practice so much that they become exceptional at something seem to be immune to burnout on their passions for long periods of time, or seem to have a brain chemistry that remains resilient in the face of it, and that ain’t me. I’ve suspected I have ADHD but it’s hard to get a diagnosis and my doctor said he’s hesitant to diagnose his patients even though he thinks it’s possible (and I’m in Canada where I’m lucky to even have an assigned family doctor so I can’t really get a good second opinion on that). Programming just happens to be one of the few things that I get burned out on the least compared to everything else and even then it’s hard to sustain interest in it for long periods.

Just about any place I know that uses C++ also does that with C++ so that’s nothing unusual for C++ specifically. It’s too big of a language to reason about very well if you don’t, so you’ve gotta find a subset that works.
How does scrying work in the game actually? I’m kinda curious and I don’t have the game yet :<
It will prefetch the instructions and put into the pipeline the branch it thinks is mostly likely. It may do ahead-of-time speculative execution on certain instructions but not always. If it missed the correct branch it will flush the pipeline and start the pipeline over again from the correct branch. Afaik it doesn’t execute or prefetch both branches. The other guy is saying it does but that doesn’t really gel with my own recollection or the Wikipedia article he cited. You can see some further discussion that suggests only one branch gets prefetched here here and here. Reasons cited for only predicting one branch are: 1) Two pipelines with all the associated circuitry to look ahead, decode, and speculatively execute is incredibly expensive in terms of both processing requirements and die real estate. 2) Caching both would thrash your caches with new data constantly. 3) Modern branch prediction is already so accurate, there’s really no need for two pipelines anyways.
I think it’s right around how much they were selling brand new Decks for during the summer sale, so it would make me want to wait for a future sale probably. Or rather I think it was 10, 15, and 20 percent reduction for the low, mid, and high end options respectively. I wonder if they’ll reduce the costs of the refurbs during future sales.
Lol not a fan of Facebook or Meta but forcing any entity to provide a service they don’t want to provide especially if it’s not being done in a discriminatory way seems dubious. Legacy media are reaping what hath been sown.
Yeah. Or just use a password wallet.
Hell yeah 🤘🏻
