I know I go to the extreme but I use a different email address for everything, I have my own domain where I pay for the unlimited email address. Prior to the boycott US, I was using Apple’s hide my email address but now that I have my own .ca TLD rather than my old .com TLD I use the company.randomwordthreerandomnumbers scheme. If I get spam, I can either alert the company or close the email.

I was/am strongly thinking about getting a second phone number that I can use to help prevent spam phone calls. I do however block unknown phone numbers so they get sent directly to voicemail.

Most of my family uses iPads and/or iPhones, as much as I would love to try and do something FOSS for video calling. I had degoogled my LAN minus youtube prior to January, after January I stopped paying for YouTube by using Unwatched.

I have a Nextcloud instance hosted by a Canadian host, that is were my calendars, contacts, and files are hosted. I have been trying to actually get around to moving my photos as well.

I personally wish I could get away from Apple but that would take a lot of work and training my Grandmother on how to talk to me. Photos are my only real hold back from ditching iCloud everything else has been moved to another Canadian host. I just need to find a Mac that I can use to move my photos to as it seems to be hard to move them via my iPad or iPhone.

I had accidentally found out my ISP was using an exchange server for their email, Exchange was probably the best option for them because they are getting out of hosting email. So I looked at the Canadian web host I got to replace my Wordpress blog with and bit the bullet after I paid for the following month of Apple’s Hide my email service I gave myself the month to move all my hide my addresses to a pseudo random email address at my domain. Then I started cancelling emails going to my ISPs address and creating new address for services that I still use or may use in the future.

Highly recommend separate email addresses for everything and the use of a pihole, give the Google the big F you!

I do not nearly have assets anywhere near 1% of what I am sure these people have but I have made sure that they are not in the US. I have been working on removing my data from the US as well; that I am fairly sure I am closer to 100% of the data they have stored in the US, if not more.

I have a pihole so I do not see the ads in CBC’s streaming but I do like to turn on the national every once in a while so I pay for CBC Gem.
