Yeah. It’s definitely “the liberals” responsible for poor math skills.

That. That is quite possibly the best response in this thread. And I’m not even British.
Without even thinking about it, I read that in Joe Pesci’s voice. You should be proud!
That $70 RD may have something to do with that price tag. Salami is expensive these days.

PC Gaming@lemmy.ca•Microsoft reportedly estimated that Game Pass led to $300 million in lost sales of Black Ops 6, with 82% of copies sold being on the Game Pass-less PlayStation 5English
2·4 months agoI have noticed a bit of an uptick on Switch, too, but not nearly enough when games are running upwards of $60 at retail. I’m not paying that much for a 100 hr JRPG with a combat system I don’t enjoy. Trails sold me on the combat system alone.

3·4 months agoSeriously. I never would have bought Earthion, TWICE, if I hadn’t pirated it and fell in love with it. I firmly believe in financially supporting creators that make things I love. I DON’T believe in taking the risk of paying asking price for a game I may not enjoy in an era when demos are a rarity. As a point of comparison, Trails in the Sky FC has a demo, which I played, and convinced me to buy the full version. Pirating Switch content isn’t worth the time an effort to me, and without the demo, I never would have bought it.
Looks like the hole they dragged the Brain Bug out of.

Technology@lemmy.world•Disney+ has started cracking down on password sharing in the USEnglish
491·2 years agoSo my child, who is not old enough for their own account, will now no longer be able to watch Disney+ while attending school at their residential academy 400 miles away. Just like Netflix. And just like Netflix, my subscription will be canceled the moment they try to block them from logging in.

No Stupid Questions@lemmy.world•Why does it seem that people dislike recordings of their voice more than photos of themselves?
3·2 years agoWe hear ourselves all the time, but we don’t sound at all to ourselves the way we actually sound. We don’t have a sort of internal picture of ourselves to create dissonance with our reflection or photographs in the same way we do with our voices. It’s that dissonance that makes us distrust or dislike hearing ourselves as we actually sound because that isn’t the voice we identify with internally.

272·2 years agoI think you have this flipped, though. It’s more like we hear ourselves all the time, but we don’t sound at all to ourselves the way we actually sound. We don’t have a sort of internal picture of ourselves to create dissonance with our reflection or photographs in the same way we do with our voices. It’s that dissonance that makes us distrust or dislike hearing ourselves as we actually sound because that isn’t the voice we identify with internally.

Unpopular Opinion@lemmy.world•Lemmy is a bigger echo chamber than reddit
1·2 years agoSame. I only go to Reddit for those niche tech topics that I can’t find useful info anywhere else. I really want to abandon it wholesale, but Reddit has pretty much completely captured the audience for a lot of more niche topics.

11·2 years agoAbsolutely. Every other interface was trash.
And the official app and web interface were a port-a-potty upturned into a flaming dumpster.

1·2 years agoSame. Being annoyed by excessive ads is a surefire way for me to blacklist a product or company. Particularly obnoxious ads can do it with just a single exposure.
I won’t ever buy a car from Frank Lita because of how obnoxious their ads are.

Ahhhhh! Noooo!
Anyway.
I hope Meatloaf can sing…
Love him, too. Currently watching Good Omens and loving every moment.

There was this audio book thing we used to have when I was in kindergarten. It was about farm animals, and each animal had its own sound effects. Pigs had the sound effect of a man saying the phrase “sloppity sloppity sloppity slop, sloppity sloppity sloppity slop”.
This is now my mantra whenever I see AI slop.
Maybe we should start chanting it en masse at these tech conventions any time AI is being discussed as anything more than a massive waste of resources.
